Weekend Spin - North Carolina

This is my first ride report, so be kind

Temperatures were in the mid 90's F on Friday, so I packed up the GS and headed south. Stopped in southern Indiana to check out the Hoyt House...

Wish they'd find some money to restore the place - nothing to see on the inside...

The College next door needs a bit of work as well...

Crossing the Ohio River in Kentucky - nothing but pleasure...

Pulled into Knoxville, Tennessee a bit late and missed dinner as teh restaurants were all closed. But the bar wasn't so beers for dinner it is....

Met up with my friend Phil as he rode down from Cincinnati aboard his 1098. Up the next morning and we're off to the Deal's Gap area. Phil does some kind of Ducati rider pose that I'm not familiar with...

The place is packed with HD riders, so we head ourt into the country to find soempalce quiet to eat as we missed dinner last night. Stopped at the Tuskeegee Motel and Fuel station for some bbq sammiches. They look kinda foul, but taste pretty good.
Phil smothers his with cole salw and also get a hot dog with slaw. Sick looking to say the least...

Then it's off to the hills for soem riding. Smooth tarmac and no traffic greets us on this day. Excellent...

I'm sure a few of you guys here have been to western North Carolina to ride and can attest to the beauty and fantastic roads...

I've toyed with the idea of buying a vacation home down here but have never found a place that fit my needs. Fun to go searching the backroads though. Saw lots of homes I can't afford...

As close to any off roading as I got - a gravel road for a few miles....

It's been at least 30 minutes since his last feeding, so Phil's hungry again. I've never seen a human eat so much so often as this guy. We find another fuel stop with food and head in. Phil settles on some kind of rather large hot dog with jalapenos and soem kind of waxy looking cheese sauce. I stick to water...

We're the onyl non-Harley types at the place. Also the only ones not swilling downbeer like there's no tomorrow. I suspect, that for many of them, there might not be...

At least they're wearing the proper riding gear. ATGATT ya know...
