Having just replaced the instrument dash lights I am now experiencing the following weirdness, when i put the breaks on the dash lights, light up. Amusing for a while, but can anyone explain how to get the electrics a little less "Clown Car"esque?
PS I haven't touched the wiring since I bought it.
thanks Sol

As Cookie suggests......re-check everything you did...and look for a missed connection or a trapped wire.

It`s something you`ve done....or not done.

Check the earth of the TAIL LIGHT (ie at the back of the bike).

Almost certainly, because of a bad earth there, the circuit for the brake-light bulb is being completed through the tail-light filament and back along the tail-light/instrument light circuit and is being earthed at the speedo head.

try changing rear bulb. filaments can touch each other when one of them blows.or a bad earth.worth changing bulb first.or just take it out and try brake see if dash lights still come on

And the answer was...

last owner had used LED bulb in the rear light. Took it out and changed it for the usual and my clown life ended...for now.
thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction.
