Well it doesnt seem that the 2010 GSA's are any better than the old ones! gave my bike a clean tonight only to find that the front engine cover is corroded and flaking , its already had a new rocker cover due to corrosion and two new centre stands, on looking at the engine block closeley i can see imperfections under the coating and fear that corrosion is ont its way there too.

Yes i did run it through the winter, but not during the bad snow and freezing conditions, always washed twice a week to get rid of salt etc, bike is my main form of transport and is used but not abused, have to say build quality is dissapointing but riding experience is superb.

Mate, I know it looks like I am trying to sell you something but get yourself one of these - even if it`s from anyone else - I have them fitted to my bikes and they really do stop the sh*te eating away at the vunerable front of your bike. Or alternatively use ACF50

Mark, had one of your crud catchers fitted from day 1, the corrosion is at the top of the front engine cover, above where the tank protection bars go across

Then I think ACF50 will be the best stuff to use moving forward.

As I said, I do have a couple of tins myself but have never used it but I believe it gets stunning reviews from the other lads who have.

BTW the corrosion on my 2010 GSA is terrible when compared to my 2006 GS - don`t get me wrong as I love the bikes to bits - but I can sympathise pal

Why does the engine need to be painted anyway..?

My R100 engine is just ally, so there's nothing to worry about there...

Sure it looks a bit grubby - but who cares

+1 mine seems to be the same - it looks much tidier than my beloved 2010 GSA

Tbh they havent really been moving foward have they , still got some of the same old problems whats been going on for years and turning a blind eye , at the buyers cost most of the time aswell
