Can anyone recommend a pair of properly waterproof trousers. My H.G.ones leave my important little places(well not so much now) as damp as a long session in the pub.
I tend to ride all year round but don`t fancy anything too bulky.Hope the missus does`nt read this!
Might be handy in leaky old Land Rover too!!!

I have had a couple set of HG textile trousers and they are waterproof to a point, but I too have had the embarrassing wet patch moment.

I bought a very thing set of waterproof trousers that go over my textiles, they work very well, especially with the equivalent jacket. The trousers shouldn't cost too much, are light / small enough to carry around.

Yeah. Thought something like that may be the answer. Had a pair of German army Goretex trousers, but the fly was a let down. My... How that water pooled!

Waterproof overtrousers........!

I wear HG waterproof overtrousers and jacket over the top of either of my BMW goretex textile suits if it's going to be more than just a shower. Keeps the rain out and i'm nice and warm in the cold. Keeps the textile suit clean longer aswell!:thumb

All the water soaks through the outer textile until it reaches the goretex liner so I find it easier and more comfortable to just put my HG waterproofs over the top.

You could ask what's the point of buying an expensive BMW suit and having to wear cheap waterproofs over the top........?:blast

Oh Christ! Just increased my overdraft. Might have to silicone the flies up for now. This Rukka kit does sound good though. Have a Revit jacket and it seems very versatile, but can be a bit fiddly with three linings.

no leak trousers

:JBive had some dainese galveston goretex for some years now,and wind water stays out even scottish sunarmies cant get in ,well tested and ace trousers, even great without liner in on cold but not freezin weather

I had problems getting hein Gericke trousers to fit my 36" waist and 29" inside leg, even their so called "short leg" ones.

I ended buying some Dainese goretex ones. No leaks what so ever. if they did they'd go back. I'm always amazed when i read about waterproof trousers that leak slightly, they are either waterproof or not:confused:

As a point of interest, i ride all year, all weathers, so these have been well tested, even though I've only had them about 9 months. Sometimes comments are made about how good a piece of kit is, without actually being told how much use it has had! i ride about 17000 miles a year.

I used a pair of desert camo british army goretex overtrousers over a pair of textiles in what could have passed for a monsoon. Not a drop got through, but there's no zip in these. £25 from army surplus and in an extra long leg too :)

A good chunk of my riding is for work, as I need to be reasonably presentable I tend to wear Hood jeans with some ex-RAF goretex overtrousers (£35) in the panniers. Them together with a goretex HG jacket and waterproof hiking boots seems to work for me (and I've ridden through some pretty big downpours this summer).

I use these too and never gotten wet even in a downpour. If your bothered about the camo you can get them in black as well. For the middle of winter last year I picked up a pair of skiing salopets. Nice and warm and totally dry, when I wash them I use the nickwax washin stuff and you can see the water run off them.
