Two black prongs seem to come out of the same mount point either side as the end system pannier mounts, and run to the underside of the silver luggage rack.

Are they to do with a bmw top box or a givi rack. The bike did come with a givi rack so would they be some sort of givi part ?

I've taken the givi plate off and just need to work out if these brackets should be packaged up with the givi plate.

They are extra support brackets, possibly made by Givi and you should keep them on as they may well prevent your rear rack from snapping under load

Why the roll eyes? I know they are possibly made by givi, i have taken the rack off and may flog it so am unsure whether these should go with it of if they are for example, for a bmw topbox system. Smartarse.

I think they are for the bmw mount ...there is a little bar that runs along underneath and houses the bolting points for the top plate ... i can check for u if u like...

No scatch that i see the brackets in the second piccy :blast.. defo givi mounting brackets....

Cheers for that, i looked on ebay and couldnt see these brackets in any of the photos on the auctions for second hand givi r1150gs plates, hence being unsure if they were definately givi. Question solved. :thumb

Thanks for the 'smartarse' comment; the smilie was to emphasise the probability of your rear rack snapping under load, nothing else. You should keep the brackets, they are quite rare, unlike broken 11** rear racks.
