What are these cables?

Having a bit of a root around my new bike trying to figure a few things out. I've found these cables under the seat - can anyone shed some light on what they are?

1 - looks like a BMW socket - is this the CANBUS ?
2 - not a clue, maybe something that was fitted and removed by the previous owner?

The other lead in the picture is for the Heated Sargent seat.

No1 is the diagnostic plug. Don't know what No2 are, but they look like standard wiring being wrapped like that.

No1 deff the diagnostic socket as for number 2 what is it wired to or where does it go as it could be anything from Autocom power to aux sockets but if it isnt affecting anything i would leave well alone

number 1 is indeed the diagnostic port.

the red wire coming from it is NOT standard. Does it by any chance link to the green wire on the diagnostic port? If so It'll be a trigger for what looks like a relay hidden by the tool roll rubber strap. Possibly an intercom or sat nav fitted previously.

That definately looks like a trigger for an auto com or the like as the diagnostic socket is AFIK a popular place to power one from
As for the other 2 connectors in fig 2 as said without knowing where they start or end its hard to say but see if they go to the battery as they could be for a charger !

OK - the 'odd' cable comes out of the aux power socket splits in 2 - one end goes to a little black 'connector' and then into the wiring loom? and the other ends up in the two terminals that are not connected to anything.

Sounds like it might be a "Tee". If there is an accessory socket up in the "cockpit" then it will be powered from here. I suspect the 2 spade terminals were used for something the previous owner had in there.

under the front there are 2 metal things cable tied possibly to do with the aux lights, one has an unplugged red socket?

those are ballasts for a pair of HIDs.

The four finned silver things are HID ballasts, least I think it is four.

That's a very kind offer which I might well take you up on! The dealer I bought it from wasn't BMW and didn't know much about the bike!!

Calm down dear .....you're doing the right thing by posting pics cos the lads on here will have the answers; HID ballasts in this picture, and I'd take up Auto's offer too as he's close...then you can go around the bike, point out the things that are confusing you and all will be sorted......

There looks like only one vacant connector so maybe the headlamp burners are still on board
