What are Vstroms like

Very under rated little bike, will do everything you want it to, very reasonable price , i have had one 650 and three 1000s , myself it would have to be the 1000.

Friend has the Vstrom 1000 and after trying a GS1200A at the weekend and getting back on the V said "This feels like a roadbike and underpowered compared to the BM....."

I tried a 1000 Strom when I was looking for my old Varadero last year. It felt a little bit flimsier than the Honda, the Suzuki luggage especially, and I thought it was a bit underbraked.

More info at www.stromtrooper.com/ and www.v-strom.co.uk.

Italian Trev had one in Italy IIRC and liked it....sure he will pop along with some input.

yip I did and it was a stormer of a bike - engine that seems more like a 850/900 and it rocked :thumb2

I bought it for commuting in and around Naples, enjoyed it so much that i joined the Italian VStrom owners club and did rallies/week-ends away etc and it was a super bike to ride. (evn two up)
22km/l against 15km/l for the 1150GS.
Stuck on a Leo Vince full race system with the baffle out and used to intentionally take the tangenziale home just to hear the reverberation in the tunnels - cars would GET OUT OF MY WAY at the noise - as Decster will tell you thats unusual in Italy. :aidan

only let down was a v.weak fork which apparently could be solved with uprated springs.

sold it when i went to Germany as i got a firm's car to commute in :blast

NOoooooooooo...... they are SOO ugly, man - have you no self-esteem ?

The SV engine is brilliant, no question about it.

Ergo's are probably good, but could you really live with one ? They'd have to almost give them away for me to have one, and i've owned a naked SV before.

If you don't do any offroading - just get a naked one :nenau

Wee Strom

Have test ridden one , and I liked it .
Also been on ride outs with several owners and they all like them , apart from two things .
Lack of wind protection
Corrosion

Y2Blade was at Whites in Swindon when I went there sometime ago as he was looking at various options , and I pointed out to him the condition of several 2nd hand Stroms [ 1000 cc ] and they were a bit ropey .

Having said that , the reliability is superb , the standard lights and mirrors [ huge ] are ace and there is plenty of after marked stuff out there for them .

Overall they are great value for money , and the engine is strong enough .

I ended up with an 1100 RT as my budget at the time wouldn't stretch enough , but I would buy one .

Steve

650 version that is????

Mate has one but just wants for more power most of the time,If ya were heading down that road i'd have to go for the 1000cc.

It is however a good reliable bike. Not for me though.

the gs is a strange looking bike at the end of the day, we all just get used to looking at them, for the money the vstrom is one of the best value for money bikes out there though.
