So, just found out my current BMW Sport integral helmet is subject to a recall entitling me to a swap for any current BMW range helmet. Winner!
Thinking of either the system 6 (but never had a flip front before) or the GS ADV lid (bit worried about the peak pulling my head back on motorways etc).
Anyone got either of these and can give me the lowdown or recommendations?
I like my lids to be as quiet as possible too if that has any influence?
Thanks

I could not get on with the system 6
good lid, very quiet and comfy but too wide for me

The ADV looks good and the people i know that have them rate them highly

Having had both, they're both OK, but the S6 was uncomfortable for me due to neck and back issues, but handy to use. The Adv lid has a narrower fitting and is a lot lighter and has a good field of vision. I had a bit more turbulence from the peak on my hexhead but with the new screen on my LC it's fine. I bought mine as end of line clearance, I think the new version is a bit better specced so maybe a bit heavier. Make sure they'll fit in your panniers, not sure the newer adv helmet will fit the alloy boxes on the GSA LC.

Absolutely and totally subjective .... there will be soooo many opinions on helmets I'm afraid, and what suits one will not suit another. Any given helmet will be quiet for one person, comfortable for another, everyone is different ....

Buy the best you can afford, what you like the looks of, what fits comfortably ...

Personally, the last few BMW helmets I've had have fallen apart ... but they might not with you. Schuberth or Shoei Neotec for me every time, I'm afraid :nenau

I've had the system 6 for approaching 7 yrs, (time for a change I suppose) It has been superb but I'd buy on fit first and foremost. A slightly noisy (buy better earplugs) well fitting lid is far better than a quiet one that makes your head hurt

Whatever lid you get , when in the BMW showroom , stay well away from the integrated SRC junk...( Buy Sena or any other competitor)

Could you let me know which out of your favourite two was the quieter, I am in the process of trying to decide between both you mentioned.

I think the Shoei is the better helmet, quieter and better made. I guess it's a personal thing and all heads, riding positions, screens and bikes are different.

I've owned two Scubeths. They are ok, the visor is nice and easy to remove.
the quality is good. Comfy fit ,

I think they (Schubeth) "over-exagerate " the noise levels .
imho They are not noticably quieter than an old Arai!

But; I think the visor aperture is a wee bit wider in the Shoei flip types, giving a better field of view.
I'll be changing brands next time....

For what it's worth, I need a flip face helmet so not many to compare. To replace my BMW system 5 (I think) I bought a Schubert C3 as my last helmet. It's light, I think it's quiet (but then I always wear plugs so not sure), it's certainly small but it has a number of design flaws. For the same money £365, I've just bought a Shoei Neotech. Only used it twice but massively impressed compared to the C3. To start with, like mine, several other C3s I've looked at have a problem with the visor sealing around the top edge. I've replaced it and it's better but not perfect compared to either the BMW or the Shoei. I suspect there was a batch problem or even the incorrect size visor was supplied. But a serious shortfall. The pinlock Senna better on the Shoei and also a much better mechanism around the pivot. - I had to get soared for the C3. The ventilation is very good too and I love the way (compared to the C3) the visor clicks down on its own rather than have to be pressed home and also, stays up if you want it too.
I guess it's each to his/her own but now I've had all three, I really do have a preference. 1. Shoei 2. BMW 3. Schubert.
