What lid should i buy?

It's about time a bought a new lid, but which type? I have an F800GS with off road tyres and i spend as much time riding off road as I do on road. I also take a month off each year adventure riding, again on and off road, but in hot climates (e.g. morocco earlier this year).
What is the point of the Motocross helmets? I understand the peak, but why the big chin? Is the chin for protection or for better air flow?
I like the flip top helmets because of the full face experience - especially works in hot climates.
Is there such thing as a Motocross flip top helmet with peak and sun visor?
I would also like to put bike comms in next year.
I was thinking about a System 6.
Any thoughts about what is good and WHY?

First post on this forum (ex GSer, now K and airhead runner). After all sorts of helmets with varying fit over the years, I bought an HJC FSmax flip front last year which I can't praise too highly for fit and finish.
Well made, front comes down and clicks into place with a noticeably solid thunk, visor (almost) immune to fogging, good vents and love the flip-down internal sun visor. Best of all, it fits my head really well and is comfortable on all-day rides!
And this after all is the most important thing. Try out a few helmets at dealers, you'll soon find which brand fits your shape of head. They should feel a little bit tight at first.

Aha! A thread I can contribute to and actually make some sense!
Here goes then.
Get a white 'un, whichever you choose. You'd be amazed at how much cooler they are in hot weather.
I use a Schuberth C2 when the weather starts to look cloudy, but being a fair weather rider it doesn't get used much. It's a good helmet, comfy enough if a little heavy. The inner visor is great in sunny conditions. The only let down is that the visor snaps shut at quite low speeds, which I find annoying.
As I live in a hot climate (at least I ride when it's hot) I mostly use my Lazer off road lid. The benefits are the huge opening, to help keep cool, ditto the extended chin piece, it's light and if you drop your head when riding into the sun the peak helps a lot. I wear it mostly with sunglasses, although when riding on dusty roads goggles are needed, which cut down a lot on peripheral vision.
I've decided to go for a Tour-X next, as I reckon I'll get the best of both worlds, with only a few downsides.
There, I feel I've contributed to the forum, I can now go back to posting crap again.
On my pack of Marlboro it says smoking kills, it almost certainly does if associated with being on fire.
