Are there any other makes of motorcycle clothing who's zips are compatible with the BMW motorrad range?

A question I haven't been able to get an answer for myself. I did however come across a Zup last weekend at the Bike Show in Dublin. Basically it's a belt which has a velcro pad attached. Each of the pads can come with different zips to suit different jackets. I have a pair of Kevlar jeans and was nervous to use them without them being zipped to my jacket. I bought a belt with pad attachment to suit my B.M.W. jacket for thirty five euro. I have tried to google them zup.com but am having problems finding them :aidan

Ok, see if you can work out the answer from this....

I have HG leather trousers( long small tooth zip), bought Dianese leather jacket had shorter but not really short, bigger toothed zip.
Asked HG for a zip which they gave me foc (!)and sewed it to the Dianese jacket - worked brilliantly for several years now

Bought Streetguard2 Jacket and was delighted to find it zipped to HG trousers.

So you might get lucky if you scoot down to Hein Gericke:D

When you buy new clothing it usually comes with the other half of the zip ziped to the zip. JJH

That's got me thinking ....but I can't remember ever getting the other part of the zip on any clothing I've ever bought. :nenau

I thought about this but wondered how strong it would be in the event of a spill?

As strong as the zips, and the stitching....which would be no different to the original jacket and trouser combo. Ask them to use a good grade thread and that should sort it.

I always find that it's not just the different zip type, it's also the different positions of the zips that also differ on each garment.

I think your question to yourself should be, 'How strong is my standard zip in the event of a spill?'

Of course you have no idea, nor an easy way to find out without lobbing yourself down the road.

Zips themselves vary. Some go all around the waist band, some are just quite short and on an elastic support.

Putting an alternative zip in will not effect it one bit. If you want someone to do a good job of it, try Hideout Leather. They are not local to you but are good.

Edit: done from iPhone..... Now realise Dainese the needle, said the same thing.

Ps HG used to give a second zip that could be sewn onto another garment.

Some do and some don't, frank thomas and teknic definately do. Some (maybe all) BMW jackets don't. When I askedthe salesman about this he said that the jackets don't have the other half, but the trousers do. Work that one out :nenau He did say that the zips are standard YKK ones though so would be easy to find a compatible zip :thumb2

I'm sure a good sewing and alterations business would source you a suitable zip.

I can recommend Hideout as Wapping did...a top service...but you'd need somewhere to go into to show them your zip I guess.
