as the title says. I am getting different answers from different service places. All say engine oil / filter and brake fluid. Some say valve clearances, gearbox oil etc

whats the official bmw schedule?

Thanks for a really helpful reply. I would read tyhe service book if it was available to me. I asked because it isnt.

I suspect that it is what the dealer thinks he can get away with. Should be oils filters and brake fluid I believe. Shims are at 12k for checking.

I would say if it could have degraded with time then change it according to the time schedule. If I only degrades with mileage then change or check with the mileage. Simple.

cant see shims degrading with time. that said the main dealer says check the valve clearances. the inide says its 12k.

had a look at your link Robb but it seems to be for the engine before the TC.

Main dealer will say do it all on time. But as @Birdseye says, valve clearances only degrade with miles.

No. It would have been better had you been polite, friendly and helpful rather than snotty and unhelpful.

AFAIK, there is no "service book". Certainly I have not had one with any of my three GS so far.

The final answer ( I went with the main dealer since I am thinking of selling) was engine oil and filter, gearbox oilo, brake fluid, valve clearances, throttle body balance, road test and an overall condition check. Cost £ 242.
