I recently made up the Canbus power cable for the Zumo before a 4000k trip (stupidly) but only tested it for power before leaving. Started the trip and had horrible electrical feedback through my intercom so had to disconnect the audio for the whole trip. I have tested things back home now and all is fine until I start the engine then there is this loud electrical squealing from the Zumo mount. Its not picking it up from the audio cable as I tried earphones straight fron the mount and it is still there with the engine running. Disconnect the Canbus cable and run on battery power and all is fine. Never had the problem when it was connected straight to the battery.

So what have I done wrong??? :nenau

Are you using resistive plugs/connectors/HT leads used for noise suppression ? If you are, look for HT leaks by running the bike in a darkened room/garage...

I'm using what ever a 2006 R1200GS comes fitted with. I'd say they would all be resistive plugs, etc....isn't everything these days? It's not a crackle like a spark, just a loud steady whine that rises and falls with the revs.

Thats why I prefer not to use Canbus for audio on my 05 - battled with similar interference - tried everything and eventualy connected my intercom direct to battery via an additional power socket. No problems since.
