Nope, they changed that because it officially fell foul of one of the 'ist' rules
To qualify to purchase an RT now, you just have to be wearing at least two articles of clothing in Taupe, or at a push, beige, and you have to smell faintly of wee or TCP.
If you smell of both AND have three or more beige items on, they give an automatic 5% discount, which is why so many of the GS brethren are now riding RT's

I need to phone them up tomorrow then to claim my '5%'.
I would have thought it would have been obvious to them I qualified, but they didn't mention it.
Faster and more fuel efficient than a GS thanks to the latter having the aerodynamics of a brick.
The twincam (110bhp) engine doesn't run out of puff at the top end like the previous engine.
Better bike for the road/touring than a GS and it handles better on the road than a GS.
You have, however, made a huge mistake if like several (many?) people on this site you hanker for the semiotics of "Adventure" which means (in your mind) that you're a roughty-toughty kind of guy who will be off to Bolivia soon with nothing more than your GS and a bent teaspoon.
Just ride the fecker and love its qualities

Don't forget you also have to have 'luggage' that looks like it's been built out of Meccano and tin cans and which has the aerodynamics and aesthetic appeal of a house brick!

Doub't there is much in it tbh - although high speed ( high for a boxer ) cruising is more relaxed.
Agree with the touring bit but I think you are a country mile off the mark with 'handles better on the road'. It may be down to what you actually mean by 'Handles' ?
The bike is really smooth, but ultimately soulless and uninvolving. The GS corners better and quicker and changes direction better.

i exchanged my 60 plate GSA 3 months ago for a 300 mile 2 month old RT, ive put 5k on it as i go to the ardennes nearly every weekend, 200 motorway and 90 miles on fast twisties and the RT is perfect with it's cruise control etc.
I dont look at it in the same way as the GSA, more like a tool and 2 weeks ago 6 of us went to the black forest and the Alps and i missed the GSA whilst in the twisties but on the fast winding roads the RT was fine and the motorway stuff we did my GSA riding mates were wishing they were on the RT, especially when it pissed down.
I will have another GSA some time but ideally i would have both if i could sell a kidney.

Just kidding, i am repairing and testdriving them all but.... My one is a GS.

The RT is a much better bike in most situations than the GS/A.
Unless you want to take the bike off road,then the RT is much better in my opinion-faster,more comfortable,more practical,better handling etc etc.
And if you do want to go off road then why take a tank such as a GSA when there are much better,faster and lighter alternatives !!!
There would be even more RTs on the road if a couple of celebs had ridden off on them instead of GSAs.

Enjoy your new bike, they are a very nice road tool, it has better rider protection than the gs and in standard spec it's far more comfortable but as for better handling! Not sure how anyone can come to that conclusion

Why try and compare two totally different bikes which have been designed for totally different purposes. If you want a touring bike that will eat up the road miles then you get the RT and if you need a bike that can hack it on both road and trail then you get the GS or GSA.
I love both bikes but as I do a huge amount of motorway miles it made sense to chop my GS in for the RT. Do I miss my GS? oh yes cos' it had real character but I couldn't afford to run both. (Damn I wish I'd have thought of selling a kidney)
