Right, seriously thinking about selling my 1150GS and upgrading to a 1200 GSA but not sure where to start on a reasonable price and need some guidance from the brethren.

She is a 2001 single spark non servo ABS. Usual stuff of heated grips, full luggage PLUS torbinators, MRA Vario screen, crash bars, mudguard extender, rear hugger, clear lense indicators, oil cooler cover, just serviced with FSH, HID dip beam, LED tail light, rear brake resevoir cover, 13600 miles, excellent condition.

What do you think.

+1 Richie

Get out put some serious miles on the minter you have got.

Ride and enjoy.

My 2003 1150gs has hauled myself herself and the luggage round Southern Ireland in style for the last 10 days .Just gets better and better.

1200 will just empty the wallet.

Regards Frank

That's a very nice looking 1150 and the ideal spec for many (single spark, non-servo abs - sh*t - even the exhaust clamp's still shiny!) - I'd keep it.

As to value :nenau . Owners (and owners of similar models) will always value higher than buyers. Somewhere in between is the right answer but it's got to be at the top of the price band given its condition and mileage.

Anyway, you've probably had a flood of 'speculative' offers by PM ;) - if I had any money, I'd have been one of them :D

Trouble is

.......if you sell an 1150 in that condition and regret it in 6 months time it will be very difficult (IMHO) to find another 1150 as good for the 'right' money.

+1 if I was you I'd buy the 1200 and keep the 1150, then after a few months see which one is getting the most usage.

There has been a few who have had a 1200, but decided to go back in time to the 11xx.

Are you sure you haven't mistyped the mileage and it has actually done 136.00 miles? It is immaculate.

Does seem an expensive change bearing in mind the amount of mileage you do

Are you sure you are not a cleaning fetishist and just want something new to polish? If so I think I have the solution.....I'll bring my bike round and you can clean and polish to your hearts content, whilst I "prep" your current steed to provide you with something to clean in the future....will save you thousands:thumb

I have a 1200adv and an 1150. only got the 1200 as i had over 50k on the old one and it is starting to show its age.

Try and keep both if you can, but with that mileage and condition I wouldnt bother trading up. My 1200 has turned into a money pit.

Strongly urge you to keep what you have and use the money putting some mileage on it on a few foreign trips. Whilst the 1200 is a fantastic bike I still get the same thrills out of the 1150.

You have a really tidy 1150 there, minimal miles, great condition, I would hang on to it and spend the money on petrol and tyres :thumb2

plus there's nothing a 1200 will do that you can't on the 1150 :thumb2

What's it worth

OK I admit it, there are some fetishist tendencies...stripped her down over the winter and cleaned pretty much everything.

Mileage is picking up, done 3000 so far this year and intend to put allot more mileage on now the GS is my only bike (was one of 3 but decided to keep the GS and sell the other two). My thinking here was to sell her before the mileage gets too high and value plummets.

TBH I am in two minds as I do love the bike....need to think on some more. Thanks for the comments and advice.

It's worth 4500ish according to Johnyboxer, even in crap condition it'll be worth 2k, meaning a loss at worst of 3k if you really hammer it.

Or you can chop it in at a dealer for 3k and buy a new 1200 for upwards of 12k, costing you over nine thousand of your hard earned readies. And then watch it depreciate over the next 3 years and cost you thousands more.

:eek

That's a lot of beer tokens....

You would lose more buying a new bike, keep it

It's worth as little as possible to someone wanting to make a quick buck!

You're mad if you let that go,don't forget, you can't just pop down the local dealer and buy another one if you regret it in six months.

As for buying a 1200,they're right at the bottom of my list of things to buy.

Work out how much it would cost to change (trade up,my arse) then go and have a few bloody good holidays on the difference.

Keep it:beerjug:

Stealers

said my 03 1150 .Not a minter like yours,but a very tidy bike @ 24K was worth a stunning 3.5k trade in :bounce1

So prices plummeting are an issue ????????? Not for Moi

Another 9k on top to buy a new 1200gs = an awful lot of petrol and trips over the water plus beer tokens etc ......

Simples equasion ,Frank

I have a 1200GSA and a 'standard' 2002 1150

After riding the 12 quite a bit recently I took the 'old' GS out for a spin.

I now know why the dealers used to recommend at least a half day test ride on the 1150s. At first I though it was underpowered and agricultural but within 50 miles I was falling in love all over again.

Yes I really like my 1200, but I still LOVE my 1150.

If one had to go.....I could always replace my 1200 (if I had the cash) but my mint 47k (which I collected new in Jan 02) 1150 is irreplaceable.
