well ive had my 07 gs for 3 weeks now and i love it but today my first problem rolled it out of the garage put on side stand fired up ticking over nicely went to put my lid and gloves on and it conked out re started ran for 20 seconds or so then conked out again but i looked at the neutral indicator and it was flickering from neutral to 2nd and back again put it up on main stand and ticked over spot on but gear indicator the same flicking through 1,2 N so would i be rite in thinking it may be a problem with the gear position sender on the back of the gearbox hope some one can help

Yep, it's the gear position indicator. Ad Bisbee says, liberally spray with WD40 to see if that cures it.

disconnected wires from gear position sender squirted ACF 50 electrical terminal protector into connector on sender left it for half an hour then re connected bingo fixed all gear positions spot on had a good ride today a bought 200 miles and all good so well pleased thanks for all your help

Another thing - change the final drive oil and lube the drive shaft splines.
It's also worth dropping the swing arm off the rear shock to spread grease around the roller bearings.

hi
I had the same issue with my 2005 gs1200, to prevent shelling out £130 try removing the gear position sensor at the rear of the gearbox, you will need a torq e8 spanner for 2x bolts . once it is removed soaked for about an hour in electrical cleaning solution & let it dry for about 2 hours. when you refit the sensor use hex head bolts this will make removing the part a lot easier in the future, the electrical connection/plug I applied a generous coating of dow corning electrical paste, good luck this has work for me.
