what oil

My 2003 R1150 GS has done around 8500. I'm going to change the oil. Should I use mineral oil, or other stuff?

Mine has 14000, same year as yours, and dealer recommends mineral but I am sure you will find many answers on here. Try the search button. Hope this helps, Ricky.

If your bike quit using oil, than a full synthetic like i.e Mobil 1 is fine. The oil debate is really boring , but BMW bikes are built like cars with seperate crancase oil and tranny oil. I use Mobil 1 in my outboard engine (140 HP 4 stroke Suzuki with 1000 hrs) and my truck (55K miles) and my bikes.There hasn't been a failure yet and being in a hot and humid climate is tough on all engines. It my personal observation and YMMV. Just my 0.02 cts
