I've hopefully put to bed a deal on a lc , but I need to get a topbox for it. I would like it to be big enough for two fip fronted helmets. The bike is only going to be used on road and at this time would be going around the world.

So what should I get????

Also the bike has had a new gearbox, is the a common problem?

Nope..................good luck with your new bike:thumb2

BTW - I'd have a Givi, great for 2 lids and stylish too...............those Italians know how to make a good topbox

I use a givi E52 takes 2 full face helmets no problem. May not suit the GS as well as the adventure boxes but works better 2 up and has never leaked!

There have been some clutch/gearbox problems but as long as it's ok now and the bike has warranty no problem. The GS is a great bike you should love it!

Another :thumb2 for the Givi Maxia.

I used mine on a number of bikes.....It didn't upset the handling.....Toured all over Europe...Swallowed masses of gear...NOTHING broke...and when I quit doing that sort of thing I sold it here for a decent price.

Some people don't like the look of 'em....then again, a BMW ain't an MV/Duc' Panigale/Cheryl Cole etc. It looked just like a very functional Givi Maxia 52 lire top box slapped on the back of a motorbike.....which you will like or you won't....

If I ever decide that I need another BIG top box then I would not hesitate to buy another.....:)

+1 for Givi. I bought mine from Motocard (based in Spain but great service through their website). Others on here have used them too and you will save money compared to UK prices.

Givi - turns a GS into a scooter.

I'm a big fan, perfect for commuting without panniers, great for popping to Waitrose and you can load up with shopping and leave the lid open with the internal elastic straps around the outside to keep it safe.

Oh... And a yellow one is the fastest

I have a GSA due in and Im thinking of a top box, the metal one, does any one know the proper price and if so do i need a plate for the rack or does it slot straight in

Thanks

I've also got a GSA coming, and will probably get the BMW top box. I think you'll also need a mounting plate. If I do, I may get it powdercoated.

In their wisdom, BMW has a new website, and I can't find the model accessory link, with prices.:blast

If you get the BMW Ali top case for the LC GSA it does not need an adapter plate

The GSA comes with the racking to accept a top box as standard. The aluminium top box is apprx £300 but will fit straight on. Top box is £260 ish plus the lock coded to ignition approx £40. Looks good but will only fit one helmet ;)

+1 for the Givi Trekker. Looks good on the bike, it matches the oem boxes pretty well and fits nicely with the SW Motech mounting bracket. They tend to need the seal adjusting around the box edge to make them watertight, but once you do that they're fine.

Sounds a lot, I just looked at my invoice and top box was £264 and lock £46 + vat but I haggled a 20% discount on all my extras so it was just over £300 fitted :)
