Soon going to have to replace the tyres on my 1200 LC. At present they have Tourance Next. One person I know has Michelin Pilot 4 fitted and he rates them. Any suggestions what I should fit this time round? I ride all year round in all weathers.

Depends if you take off the tarmac. Ive just put Karoo 3 on my R1200 GSA and they seep pretty good and once bedded in they behave themselves on the road and pretty good off road.

Try a set of battlax A40 adventure tyres

Good price and wear so far.

I put them on after the T Next and found them better all round due to the stiffer sidewalls no doubt.

Marginally improved in the dry but extremely confident in the wet compared to T Next

Rode with them in alps in july last year and I wasn't exactly hanging about in the twisties and i really enjoyed them.

Will be putting them on again for a 4 week trip this year

Oh goody another what tyres thread for me to say PR4

Although the new Dunlop roadsmart 3 are supposed to be good and my tyre bloke rates the pirelli Angel GT

Got mine mine booked in for Road 4s. Dealer doesnt have Roadsmart3s in stock yet.
Michelin road2s and 3s Dunlop Sportsmart 2s and Angel gt were all good tyres on other bikes. Though I have been through more Michelin pilot road 2s than any other tyre. They were outstanding on every bike they were fitted to (Fz1. Gsxr1000 R1 etc.)but now discontinued.

The Anakee 3's that my GSA came with are great, but I will likely go with Angel GTs or PR4s when they are gone especially if someone else has them and say it fixes the road noise issue.

Had Tourance next and they square off quickly....had 2 sets of pr4 and they are superb but a bit noisey and everyone keeps going on about getting punctures easily....I used to get about 4500 miles out of them. Now got conti TKC70 on and after a run to Sahara and back and around 4000 miles they are half worn if that... they were brilliant in everything that was thrown at me.....as Redrick will testify as soon he will be seeing a lot of my back tyre..!!!

Roadsmart 3 does look good but I do not think they make the 19" front Angel GT in the right size for this bike

+1 for the Battlax A40, just about broke in after 1500 miles, certainly a harder side wall was noticeable at the outset. Got 8000 miles out of the rear Battlewing but it was illegal by then but never any issues with grip, so hoping for more of the same with it's replacement the A40 :aida

I am also very interested in the Battlax A40. On my 2009 GS I only used the Battlas Battlewing and loved them. I don't ride much off road so I am anxious to get rid of the Anakees and switch to the A40s. Those the have used them are they as grippy as the Battlewings?

I would say yes, but they feel harder/stiffer so the feeling changes but still have the confidence to push on when the mood takes me but i would still prefer the old Battlewing feel.
P-P

And to add variety, I am on my second set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2s.

Better than the A3s (a bit more compliant; less wear and even more confidence), and far better than me. The A3s as OEM fit were squared off and down to barely 2mm centre tread on the rear at 5750 miles - including running in. The first set of Scorpions have just been replaced at 6k miles with only slight squaring and 4mm centre tread left on the rear - replaced as I am just off on a longish trip and don't want to think about tyre wear when away.

My quick comparison of the tyres I've had so far on mine...

Annakee 3 - ok but nothing great and squared off big time
Conti TKC70 - really unstable, ultimately I had them removed under warranty
Michelin PR4 - really good road tyre with excellent all-weather grip, wore evenly across the tread but damaged easily by road detritus and punctured easily (common complaint)
Avon Trailrider - awesome tyre, grip can't be faulted imho.

With the exception of the TKC70s, I've had 2 rears and 1 front tyre of each tyres listed, and will be sticking with the Trailriders. They look good and perform better than any of the others I've tried.
