What would you add?

I agree with Thunder. At 5'9", a Sargent low seat will make it much easier for you to get your feet down and is a lot more comfortable than the stock seat for riding more than 30 miles or so in one go IMO.

get your arse on the seat more often, that way you can lean to ride it, not just show people pictures of it and tell them how good it is. its a wonder you can remember what colour it is.

Get yourself some earplugs. They are a cheap way to protect your hearing if you decide to ride it. Some owners do.

Failing that, get yourself a pair of sun glasses to protect your eyes from the glare of all that expensive bling you are about to add.:D

I've no problems with saddle or front lighting,
but that hasn't stopped me from adding bits and bobs to my bike :

- sidestand extender (keeps the bike from sinking in when loaded)
- rear inner fender (the only thing that keeps your legs mudfree)
- stebel horn (the OEM horn is awful IMHO)
- LED rear light (increased visibility)
- LED indicator lights (just for fun)
- RAM mount for GPS (gotta put it somewhere)
- handlebar risers (better handling)
- wunderlich lifting handle (usually my rear rack is not on bike)
And since it's not a GSA but GS :
- extreme screen (winter or long trips)
- flowjet (summer)
- brake pedal enlargement

Available at Nippy Normans, Wunderlich, Touratech.
Some of these were carried over from my first R12GS ('05 - 60000 km),
but my 2nd R12GS ('07 - 30000 km) is so much fun that I've just continued buying stuff. :blast

Now, in my own defence I could point out that these are highly necessary improvements, hardly any bling at all ... :augie

... but I might as well admit that I'm a twat. :JB

additional kit

Would definitely recommend the Wunderlich lifing lever:oonyack

I got one of those, but found if you have the racks fitted for the panniers on a GSA it won't fit.

I'd put a whole lot of miles on the bike before I bought anything else, and then I'd use the money I'd not spent to buy some more fuel, and possibly some ferry tickets and then use the bike as it was intended.
