Whats a reason part ex value for my GS - advice please?

Looking to part-ex my 2013 (May) Alpine White TE (28,000 miles) full BMW history - no additional options (well there are but I will take them with me) - just wondered what people would think is a fair price?

Doesn't seem to affected the part-ex price if I look at new or 12 months old

Somewhere between £7-£8k depending on your dealer
 
You often get a better trade in if you take out finance.
Even if you are a cash buyer simply take the finance deal and then pay it out a day or two after taking the bike.
I've done this a few times now.
 
2013 LC

I was offered £ 7500 for my White 13 plate TE with 9000miles in late December from various dealers.
 
I was offered £6000 for my white 13 plate TE with 20,000miles last summer from the dealers against a 14 plate with the quick shifter thingy and 9000miles on the clock. But he wanted £3500 cash as well.
I can live without the quick shifter thingy.

Why not ring around a few dealers they will be happy to fleece you
I was offered 7k for my 63 plate 28000 miles with gear shift and new engine at 15000 in October
So I sold it privately for just over 8k and then went and did a deal on the same bike.
It's all too easy just to trade in.

See what they offer and sell for more privately at a realistic price
 
Finance - They have said they only get paid out now after 6 months so if I take and dont keep the loan for 6 payments they get virtually nothing. So they would offer a free service if I paid over finance for 6 months!

Privately - which is the best route, MCN, BikeTrader or eBay?
 
I was just offered £7800 on my 2014 basic GS LC with ESA, Dynamic Pro, (barely) heated grips and 16k on the clocks against an S1000XR or R1200RS.

As it had a new engine in April and ESA rear shock absorber in the summer, I think I'll pay my £6200 final payment in March and keep it :thumby:

Pay 6 months finance on your old trade in???

Isn't that the dealers job, out of the overall deal ?

Thats my view - suspect they had too many people buying on finance to get a deal, then paying it off during the cooling off period. All work no gain for the finance team- looks like this is to discourage such

I see - just re-read it

I think what is meant that if a finance deal is taken out & settled within 6 months of inception - then BMW clawback the original commission
Quite normal in the industry

Hardly at 3weeks into 2017 :blast

2014 bikes with a new engine were mentioned at £7800
We're barely only a month into 2017
So 2014>2016 is a two & a bit year old bike with the benefit of a new engine
The bike, would have been over £12k new - so despite a new engine it's lost a third of its original value - was it the vat :) ??
Keep up at the back ;)

It's not the way the trade sees vehicles. We do the same with trucks i.e a 2013 registered truck is now 4 years old and valued accordingly. The plate i.e 13 or 63 makes a slight difference but that all.

New engines etc don't make any difference to be honest. Realistically, It might make them a bit more sellable but not really any more valuable.

£7800 for a 2014 bike isn't a bad price. Bear in mind the dealer has to service it, put new tyres on, sell it and still make a profit. If people aren't happy with this figure, they can sell privately for more.

Most bikes mentioned here are 2013 bikes, which will be 4 years old in 6 weeks time.

£12k is retail price. Who pays retail price? You can source a new GS (if you know how to negotiate ;)) for under £11k, so you think £3k in 4 years and over 20,000 miles is bad? Go and see how much more the competition lose.

To comment on a bikes residuals, with no first hand experience, just what you hear on here is a bit misleading JB.:rolleyes:
 
It's all about condition. If they can resell it (needs to be very nice and BMW History) you will get £1500 more than if it needs to be traded out. You don't mention condition?

Good stuff

Looks like I'll keep the 1150 GSA tractors a wee while longer as their values have stabilised now at £4-5k :)

Just shows how the sales success of the WC has affected residuals though & couple that with all the warranty aggro tooing & froing to the dealers for 'issues'

It makes it look less appealing to me - no matter how well they ride :)
