I took the cable off rather than re-route it when I fitted my risers, bike was so slow without it, like it was just on idle but the fuel economy was fantastic

Obviously most of you on here on technical boffins that know every last nut and bolt on bikes, and could probably take them apart and rebuild them again. But has it ever crossed your mind that there are some who know bugger all (and aren't that interested in most of it either) about the mechanical, electrical technical side of bikes and just enjoy the pure pleasure of riding them?

I always use extra virgin olive oil, but if I can't find it normal olive oil will do ;-)

Stops the cable from chaffing on the handle bars?

It actually stops the cable chaffing on the R/H clamp...... even with it on the cable still rubs against the side of the handlebar between the clamps.

I recently purchased from NN that transparent tank protector vinyl .... didn't use all of it as my balls aren't that large, cut off a 30mm x 20mm section and applied it to the bar under the cable.

I did the same to that plastic thingy covering the rear brake master cylinder where the side of your boot rubs...
