No,use a leather cleaner like this.

Works very well.

Then treat with a leather cream such as this

HG do a special detergent for your jacket, mine's dayglo yellow and after a trip to Morocco it was minging so I washed it with the magic HG stuff and it looked ok but still some marks so I poured the stuff on neat, in small spots, and went at it with a nail scrubbing brush then washed again, came out super scary yellow, I look like an 18 stone canary again - brilliant (although it does bar me from certain ride outs in Wales) Finish off with a nikwax wash to reproof it and your done. As for the leathers, wipe off mud 'n' flies with damp cloth and then I use one of those silicon shoe shine pads to feed and polish them in 2 minutes flat.

Whats wrong with good old fashioned Saddle Soap?

Its about £2.50 for a big bar from my local agricultural suppliers, and works a treat on my boots.

For touring in leathers I've always taken baby wipes

No seriously I have. They are great for getting dead flies off after a couple of days touring, pack away really easily, make your leathers soft and smell nice









And they are good if you need a sh1t and there's no bog roll
