Whats this bit do ?

Hi,

I don't have a manual for my new bike yet so please could someone tell me about this linkage?
Is it just to adjust the height of the gear selector and does it have any effect on function of the quick shift pro?

No effect on quick shifter, there to fine adjust to the size of your feet, and your preferred angle of hook under / tap down ...

Correct and my experience is that if you want to adjust it you need to break the very strong threadlock compound that's used on it.

Probably something to do with vibration and the propensity for things to come undone!

It's more to do with the fact that you rotate the link rod in one direction to effectively lengthen it and in the other to shorten it which means it needs to screw into both joints at the same time, in one direction and out of them in the other.
