Hi all, my 1100gs wheels are quite shabby looking (Im not a polisher). Can anyone recommend/know of a place that can rebuild them , I am wanting to get the rims and hubs coated and stainless spokes. Here is hoping
Cheers Dave:beerjug:

Hi Dave,

The wheels are made by BEHR wheel Co.

They are a right bastard to re-build, but not impossible. I did one years ago, and remember spending days trueing it up.

I am currently re-building my 1100 GS and am doing the wheels as well, i'll let you know how it goes....

Check your spokes arnt already S/S, from a certain tear I thought they were all changed over to S/S?

Steve.

All advs came with ss spokes, all gs's came with steel spokes. No change throughout production :thumb

Kevin Blurton of Derby is one of the few in UK who will do GS wheels. His cost for a 1200 is from £160 for an already plus powder coated/finished rime and hub. He does reduced prices if customer provides spokes.

He says the spokes get stuck in the rim (especially) and hub so often have to be cut out and the spoke holes reamed out. I would suggest taking the holes out a bit further in the rim to allow a layer of powder coat to protect the aluminium from the galvanic effects os stainless steel. I have looked for suitable spoke ferules (eyelets) but not found any.
