I ride about 3K - 5K per year depending on time, weather, etc. Not very much. Bike advises service interval every year. Is this really necessary? I would be inclined to go for a every 2 years or maybe 10K but not sure if there is a risk. Mine is a 2016 GS

Every 2 years for brake fluids OK, however oil will be fine, only real bonus to getting every year is software upgrades, and BMW giving the bike a good check over.

IF the dealer actually does the updates and it seems a mixed bag in that regard. Some dealers seem to only do updates when forced to.

Wonder how that snap on led light got under my gsa tank, could it have been whilst it was getting a good check over ?

If not TFT it only takes 10 minutes and no problems dealers do it for free, TFT takes 3 bloody hours and they will only do it if you have a problem

You got lucky, not cheap led light.
I handed it back, and have never set foot in that dealers since, and never will.

I asked to speak to the "technician" who had worked on my bike as I wanted to return something he had left, was told that wouldn't happen Sir, they were professionals, looked after their tools etc, etc, etc.

My comment was, "So why exactly does it have his fucking initials engraved on it then?"

Met a total silence.

I think the warranty requires you to have the recommended service intervals which is 6000 miles or 12 months whichever is sooner. I suspect if you do not follow this and have a warranty claim they would use this as an excuse not to fulfil it !

They're only ever interested in money....

You offer to buy something at the same time, to make it worth their while, and they suddenly are able to do your warranty work :D
