... the gearbox oil drain plug on the LC?

I have a feeling it's the "awkward to get at" one close to the engine oil drain and obscured by the exhaust but confirmation would be great

I found the same thing, so have ordered the optional oil tank. I will change the oil every 1000 miles. Can anybody recommend an oil to use? I think I need to drill a big hole in the gearbox and insert a rubber feed pipe, but that should be easy enough and then jobs a good 'un :thumb

Why japanese bikes have been successfully sharing engine and gearbox oil for over 50 years

Is it possible to retroactively fit shield in between the engine and gearbox and then use proper gear box oil? I feel BMW have been shoddy on this issue. It's probably just to save money by not using different oiles. They are sneaking in modern Japanese technology. They will be using wet clutches next. Just like a goldwing with 4 missing cylinders. In that case, all GL1000, GL1100 ,and GL1200 Goldwings would have no cylinders. :augie

Fitting a shield in between, hah hah....what are you smoking ??

Are you disrespecting my valid serious contribution to this contintus issue? I demand to be taken seriously. Just to prove how serious I am I am going to make a hole for gear oil on my bike. JJH

Oooh. Will it be a putting-oil-in-hole or a taking-oil-out-hole?

I'm just waiting for the official BMW 'drip tray' catalogue to land on my mat from Her Santa!
