Has anyone heard what percentage of 2017 GS (not GSA) are Rallye as opposed to Exclusive or TE? All the dealers seem to have either Rallye or Exclusive models and the only private ones I have seen are Rallyes.

All the dealer said to me was the Exclusive is a Marmite colour and they weren't selling many TE. Have BMW been very clever in selling the colour everyone wants at the highest price if you spec the bikes the same?

Is a black engine and transmission better than silver on the new bikes?

What do people think?

In the flesh the Exclusive is OK but a bit underwhelming. Regarding paint I did notice that there is now no paint join between the rocker covers and the main engine, so maybe that will help with corrosion as a lot of earlier engines corroded from exactly that place. The dealers I've spoken to have said that the Rallye is outselling the others by a long way.

They've only gone back to silver for one of two reasons. Either it's to recycle all the silver engines they had to replace because of corrosion or the silver ones simply hide the corrosion better...

I thought the exclusive was the fully loaded bike , there fore more expensive of the two you mention ?
The rallye wins on looks in my opinion ,the exclusive is the new triple brown for 2018

I bought an exclusive from Bahnstormer. They had a few in the pipeline at that time, and they have more on order - so someone is buying them.
I had a red one before, and much prefer this colour. But I dont think I'll change my name to BigBrownUn; that sounds too much like something that's hard to flush away :)

The only differences between the Exclusive and TE are cosmetic - the Exclusive has the brown paint on the beak and tank cover, steel panels next to the forks, plus the big logo on the tank, and black engine/transmission, whereas the TE comes with white panels, no tank logo, silver plastic panels, and silver engine/transmission, with an £85 option for black panels. I chose the TE in black, though I did think the Exclusive was quite smart looking, just not worth £270 extra to me.

Must admit that's the way I am thinking. Like the blue Rallye but its £805 more than the black TE:blast

Lets hope so, although I haven't had a problem but to be fair I don't commute on mine and it's ACF50-ed

That's why I've gone for a silver-engined version for my new bike. Not daft, me.

BMW has a distribution centre full of bikes in Northampton. Your dealer should be able to get you whatever variant you want within days. Mine was even PDI'd at the distribution centre before delivery to the dealer. This I suspect is why the TE now comes fully loaded . I suspect the only other options are dealer-fit accessories.

Go for the Triple Black.

As far as I know, and if we are talking GS not GSA, then the Triple Black is not a current model, and will not have all the features of the current March 2017 GS model. Not sure if the differences matter - if the Triple Black has the reflectors on the forks then I think that means it is the post-August 2016 model and has the improved gearbox and judder damper which would be important to me. However, it may be missing some of the latest stuff - which I'm not certain about, but which I think includes the self leveling suspension, hill start, and brake light modulator, plus of course the revised bodywork which is supposed to improve ergonomics and aerodynamics.
