Just fitting my PMR radio kit and I have an unused splitter cable connected to the 12v socket. it has 2 cables - BROWN and RED/GREEN. Can someone confirm which is live? I'm assuming brown but would rather not guess!

yes. but its not connected to anything yet. I'm trying to assemble some bits away from the bike
Assuming that BMW has followed normal European automotive wiring conventions, brown is earth and brown with a stripe is earth related (can't tell if the brown wire in the pic has a stripe). Red and red with stripe is usually battery + (or related), so 'live'.
This was certainly the case with my 1100 but I've not picked up a manual for my TC yet.
To be sure, check with a multimeter.

According to info on Wapping's "Switched power the easy way" thread, brown is negative.
Remember what Assume did?

Red with green stripe was positive, tested it with multimeter when I got home. All sorted and working
