i need a new brake disc for my paralever GS.

options seem to be original, cast or EBC .

has anyone got any experience or advice on the subject ?

Thanks

OE version is just OK :augie

Cast disc is better than OE....but looks bloody awful the next day !!!:(

Never had an EBC but doubt if it is any better than the OE item :nenau

Seeing as you need a disc anyway, do a search on here for mods to improve the braking....this is the 320mm I have on my paralever and it is highly recommended :thumb2

The HE 320 upgrade is IMO the at the limit of any more braking needing extra fork bracing etc etc. Easily convertible back to stock too.

"Cast is a pain in the arse"

What makes you say that ??????????????

Struggling to free the rusted on pads from the disc after even a few hours in the damp, heavy rusting and the mess that goes with it and accelerated wear of the disc and pads. The disk warps slightly when it gets hot as well.

If you have a garage queen that comes out on high days and holidays it may not be a problem but riding a bike fitted with them every day IS a pain in the arse.

Is that a cast iron disc? Kenny! or stainless steel

I noticed Motorworks also do that conversion for the Mono, about £300-00

Looks to be a good conversion, I'm in need of a new disc,so may just go for it :thumb2 thanks for the info

Nothing wrong with the disks, Kyoto are OEM suppliers.

But you will have to drill out the bobbins and fit the supplied items- not a problem as they are the softest stainless steel I have ever drilled.

I have a aftermarket caliper and was able to find a set of Vesrah pads to suit - the combination works better than EBC hh100s and the OEM disk, at around 20% of the cost.

Rob,My bike lives outside most of the time, even in winter. Ive never stuggled to free rusted pads, riding down the driveway will clear any off the crap on the disc.
I check my pads/disc etc regularly and cannot remember renewing the pads in the 5 or 6 years ive ridden with the cast disc on (fastish 10k a year).
I admit the disc looks a bit unsightly when rusty, and maybe the wheel rim gets a bit grubby from perhaps the rust/brake dust BUT thats hardly a "Pain in the arse" !

I've two airheads both fitted with cast disks and both have the same problems with pads rusting to the disks. Clearly you're having a whole different experience to me :nenau

I do know the disc came from motorworks but im not sure what pads I fitted.
Perhaps there lies a clue . . .different make of pads !!??
