So which Insurer do you recommend?

Have BMW's Insurers Devitt/NIG given a good service and charged a fair price?

Who is consistent and offers a good deal?

Just asking as we were discussing on another thread and it seems another contentious subject! Seems worthy of it's own thread.

Fire away!!

I use

H+R, 01224 848382.
Insured car and bike with them although on different policies. Always very keenly priced and easy to deal with. :clap

i got a very good quote from e-bike on line and then phoned my current insurer (carole nash) and they matched it to within £2 so stayed with nash as the excess was less than e-bike and got full european breakdown recovery thrown in and legal protection. also protected no-claims is free if you have 5 or more years ncd. :bounce1

e-bike.... :thumb

Got punted off my 1150 last December by a motorist turning right from a queue of stationary traffic as I filtered....

e-bike sorted me out a solicitor, got the bike fixed, and sorted it all out so there was no loss of no claims bonus...

This september got my renewal with them....£93 fully comprehensive... so wasn't worth even shopping around, and it was obvious they had sorted the claim to my advantage....

Good service indeed, and you can make changes online without having to speak to them... including changing bikes :thumb

Wouldn't bother with BMW/Devitt, recently got rid of mine ( bought a v strom, going very nicely thank you ), BMW won't change over the policy to another make, not even for the month that the policy had to run, I can understand them not giving a full year on a different make but I think it's only reasonable for them to honour the remainder of a policy if you change half way through, they also charge you £30 for the privelige of cancelling!!!!!!!!!

:nono :nono

Ebike - everything is so simple with ebike, no fuss just add/remove what you want on line. I swapped a bike over last month and a few clicks and it was done then print a new certificate off.

Hi,

My insurance is coming up soon and Ebike looks good. Can anyone tell me what sort of charges they make when u change details etc. ie adding bikes or additional drivers etc. I know lots will depend on driver history etc but just interested in the type of fees they charge just to make changes.

I changed the Ducati to a KTM mid term and it cost nothing, I also added some mods to the GSA and still no charge, I just checked what my insurance will be next year (wet finger in air) by adding a 4th bike and it put it up by GBP16.75 for the remaining 3 months of term - this means under 70 quid for a 990S with Akros and extras per year, and an all in charge of maybe GBP310 for 4 bikes next year.

Apparently they also give you 1 years NCB for every 8 months.

[edit] 4 bikes = LC4 Adventure, FS650 Husaberg, 1150 Adventure and 990S Adventure

Got my fully comp with bennetts. Didn't know about ebike will be asking for a quote next year. 04 gsa I paid £130 fully comp, Didn't think that was too bad .
Also have insurance with footman james 18 years for my lambretta
they get fired into space this year. Service was very poor.just goes to show loyalty isn't in the english language any more :rob

Try Rampdales in London. Fantastic service and have always been the cheapest for me.
I have only ever made one claim and they dealt with swiftly and without my involvement. :thumb

i have used carol nash for the last six years.i paid £154.29 comp cover for 1994 r1100rs & 1999 gs that includes full european breakdown this year.the cheapest may not be the best.in 2001 my bike at the time being a honda blackbird decided not to play ball on the furkha pass in switzerland (yes furkha) recovery truck got there in under two hours.worth its wieght in gold
£30.00 mid term change fee.
ps, had a smash in 2004 breakdown truck took bike to dealer one less thing to worry about.you pays your money & takes your choice as they say. :thumb

I wouldn't recommend any of them. I get at least 10 quotes, then go with the cheapest. Most times the underwriter is Eagle Red Star (for me), but brokers can differ by £1000 for the same policy.
