After asking about the newer LED indicators and deciding not to go that route, I'm looking for alternatives. My 1150 has horrible mini-indicators which are unreliable so I want to get rid of them, they also have non standard bulbs which is a pain if one goes while out riding/on holiday etc.

I could fit standard GS indicators which are nice and large, but liable to break if the bike goes over. Not planning on it going over (who does) but do intend to do a bit of green laning at some point so they're not ideal.

There's the touratech mini ones, which are on rubber mounts and seem like a good idea, quite reasonably priced at around £50 for a set of 4.

Any other suggestions? Can you get standard ones with rubber mounts etc?

Must be a few people who've gone for something other than the standards so thought I'd see what else might be out there before I plump some money down.

Stick with the standard issue indicatorsanything else just looks daft , I've not seen many instances of them broken in a fall but if that worries you
then motorworks supply shorter stems so the don't stick out so far:thumb2

If they do break, new stems are cheap (albeit a pig to fit the fronts on an 1100...)

I think you can replace the stem of the OE indicators with a bit of rubber pipe (as used for car heater supply - like a smaller diameter radiator hose) which will flex if the bike topples over. I've never tried this myself but I've seen pictures......

I broke one of the indicators on my 850 GS and fitted one from a Yamaha Diversion 600 which I had in the garage. It has a slightly longer arm than the original, and the arm is flexible rubber.

Got a new replacement BMW indicator last October, but haven't yet got round to fitting it.

Big bike needs decent size indi's. Clear lenses and mirror bulbs........look good.imho
also like the idea of the black rubber hose stub, could be cut to length required.

Why on earth not just stick to standard?, have a look at vehicle wiring products I fitted a pair of almost flush indicators from them for the same reasons but then fitted an HID light and some said they were difficult to see owing to the brightness of the light.
I can't find the catalouge at present but just google it and they will send you a catalouge for free.

The touratech ones are good. I had them on my 1100 after getting though no end of the standard ones. They aren't quite the simple fit they would have you think though but look better than the standard ones in my opinon.
