I am looking to replace my Autocom system for a Scala product in order to have bike to bike comms with my riding buddy.

He currently runs a S/R solo which, from previous posts, I understand does not have bike to bike capability.

The solution is therefore that we buy a pair a Scala devices that have B2B/Bluetooth.

Our requirements are :

1. Device provides good quality and reliable Bike to bike comms (upto say 1Km)
2. Device is compatible with Garmin Zumo for both Satnav and listening to MP3 music files stored on Garmin.
3. Want to be able to make and receive calls whilst riding.
4. Possibility of adding more Scala devices if group riding.

Item 1 to 3 are 100% required. Item 4 is a nice to have but not absolutely essential.

My question is, which of Scala devices meets our requirements.

I've seen S/R Teamsets, Multisets, Q2 etc and, to be honest, and rather confused by what does what. :nenau

I can obviously cover all the basis and go for the top of the range device but i don't want to shell out cash unnecessarily if a less expensive product will tick all the boxes.

All/any advise would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

The only one which meets all 4 of the above is the G4 as in theory it can reach up to 1Km. The Q2 in theory goes up to 500m B2B but other than that will do most of what you want to do. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the max distance between bikes but I think it involves line of sight to get there. I have both a Q2 and G4 and prefer the latter as it has better audio volume. You pair your phone to the Satnav then the Satnav to the Scala. They both pair up OK to my Zumo 550 but the features with a phone vary according to model.

Scala Rider G4

Ticks most of the boxes. It comes in a teamset version as well. I'm sure the new G4 is compatible with older scala models too. Only problem is the music quality from the zumo. You can only hear it in mono and it is pretty shite. The G4 can also drop it's pairing for no apparent reason.

Cheers guys.

Appreciate the info.

Think i will go for the Q2 Teamset. If anybody has one they no longer want please drop me a line.

Will post a similar message on the items wanted section also.

Thanks

Rob
