Which tyres?

I'm looking to change tyres I've changed wheels to alloy rt ones and would like to know which tyres were recommended

I second the recommendation for Michelin's PR3. I have them on my K1200RS and they are great. I suspect you will stay on paved roads. Right? For dual sport, I will install a set of radial Shinko 705 on my GS in a few weeks. They are half the price of Metze's Tourance.

Each to their own, but I've just taken a pair of 'Trail Attacks' off my 1100 after 11k miles. OK I can feel the road surface through them now, but they're still legal, with enough tread for best part of another 1000. I've never had any grip issuses with them, wet or dry. Only down side with them is the 'Chicken Strip' wears out quickly.

If I were to swap to alloys, I wouldn't hesitate in fitting a pair of ''Road Attacks'.

Another one on trail attacks here. The PR3's are a superb tyre, I've got them on my Pan European, but they don't last as long and cost loads more. Just about to fit a new pair to the pan, trying a 2 on the rear this time, been told they last a bit longer.
But I wouldn't bother fitting them to the GS.

I have TKCs on my 1150 GSA but am switching to Anakee IIIs which seem to better fit my riding and environment. I live on a gravel road and my riding is probably 80/20. The 80 is asphalt with lots of twisties and often wet. The 20 is mostly fire roads, coastal roads or solid limestone with lots of large loose rocks. The TKCs did too much sliding on wet for me to feel comfortable. I considered the Shinko 705s but went with the Anakees because of the allegedly better wet road handling.

Karoo 3's might be another option for your use; I'm liking them compared to Tourances as much better on gravel, but haven't tried TKCs so can't compare the wet asphalt performance.

Not so sure about PR3 Trail...

I tried a pair on my 2010 1200GS and while I loved the rear, I hated the front. The carcass is a stiff as a sailor's whatsit and the ride quality was terrible. I brought the wheel back and had it checked for balance, misalignment, etc. but it was perfect. Had to switch back to a regular Tourance, which smoothed the ride out perfectly...

I'd happily keep the rear, but unless someone can recommend less stiff front road tyre, I'm back to Tourances front and back...

I've been running 17" cast wheels on my 1150 for years. Current tyre preference is a PR3 on the front and a PR2 on the rear due to tyre wear. I ran 2 x PR3's on the rear before switching back, both lasted just over 2000 miles. Not ideal but great tyres and amazing in the wet.
