Whining noise on 1300 manual GS

I got a new 1300 GS a few weeks back . Love riding it . Plenty of power and handles well . One very annoying thing however is the whining noise coming from the gearbox between approximately 2,000 and 3,500 revs . Does it as you accelerate and as you decelerate but goes away if you pull the clutch in. It’s so intrusive you can not hear the engine . Has any one else experienced this ? Has it been resolved and how ?
I test rode an automatic version last month and it did not make that noise .

Whining noise, not heard that before
It's the thing that annoyed me the most,I've got use to it now 11,000 miles later.The 1300 is a lot more mechanical noise wise than the 1250 if thats possible, imo of course.

Went from a KTM Super Adventure to the 1300 GSA, when I first heard the whining noise, I thought it was a dodgy wheel bearing; it's at its worst between 60 - 70 MPH for me, I dont look at the revs.

Mine is at lower speeds . Approx 20 - 30 mph .

If it is as you say louder than the engine, that's not normal gear whine. It's impossible for anyone here to diagnose this sound. You need to consult your service department

Same for me. 7,500 miles. I noticed it at first but quickly tuned it out. It's just a characteristic of this bike.

I can't hear the gearbox whine over the noise made by the factory-fitted Anakees...

Lots of straight cut gears spinning down there. it's a beautiful sound.

Do you wear earplugs? If not maybe a decent pair of custom fitted ones will help.

My Dad had a mini metro in the early 80's reminds me of that,the whine not the car obviously.

If your bike is whining the first thing to do is check that it hasn't had left wing Miliband oil in it by mistake !

If it has, don't worry as it will soon see sense and grow out of it

Mine made exactly the same noise John but mainly when you had just enough throttle on to maintain the speed you were doing, so in essence all the time you were cruising, on acceleration and deceleration, no whining, I thought it was just a new boxxer trait until I started really looking into it, then as you know I backed the bike due to a catastrophic electrical malfunction, now on another Africa twin Adventure sport 1100 with 6 year warranty 6 year recovery both extendable for up to 20 years or 100k miles, that must say something about the confidence they have in there product !!
BMW Still owe me £450 for a claim for items that was not taken off the bike when it was rejected, cab fairs, and a dealer good will gesture payment of which I am issuing legal proceedings to get back through the small claims court, whilst it was with them "being repaired" incidentally the bike has never re appeared on there web site for sale, and I have been told its still in the workshop 6 weeks later still with the same faults, after being told it was being delivered back to me the Saturday after it went back "all sorted" !!

After 41 BMWs in 27 years I think my ties with BMW are severely broken

Remember if you have had it 30 days or under it is your consumer right to back it thats what I did, over 30 days you have to give them the chance to repair it once to your satisfaction thats what I was told and It worked for me got full invoice price £19,600 back + £450 if it ever comes !!

They all do that sir !
More or less what people have said here ….. it’s the gearbox. Much noisier before first service is carried out .

Wollastons were superb . They let me try another brand new one which made a similar noise . They also let me try another one with 7000 miles and that still had the noise but very faint .

It’s a bit quieter now they have carried out the 1st service. It should now improve with mileage and I will get some earplugs and a loud exhaust .
