Whining noise on 1300 manual GS

Im on my 5th Africa twin of this new 1000/1100 model and this is my 2nd Adventure sport with the 19" front wheel 2nd as I regretted selling the first for the XR then the meltdown module called the 1300GS so bought another new ATAS I have to say that all the silly little gripes I had with the first 1000AT they seem to have ironed out and the bike is just superb, not without a couple of minor things that I would like to change but overall I think its the most complete package ive had and there has been a few as you'll know, the Tigersport 800 was another contender again but the ATAS won the pros and cons list, ive done around the 1800 mile mark on it so far including a week in Wales in the pi55ing down of rain and its been faultless the apple car play is a great addition to the bike and with the bluetooth dongle almost faultless, we are off to Spain in 2 weeks for 2 weeks and I cant think of another bike I would prefer to go on, if I could Id buy it
the new 6 year Honda warranty and 6 year breakdown cover is also a reassuring addition to anyone who wants to travel great move by Honda that was !!

For me, the Africa Twin is the best looking of the adventure bunch. Very comfortable on my test. Good quality feel. I would have been tempted, especially by the excellent pricing, but I found it just too soft, for when I was feeling more playful and I like the boxer's extra power.

if only it had a shaft (that lasted at least 100k miles like everyone with a car gets)....

the most fun on any bike in 50 years and the most stupid I ever threw a bike around was a loan VT500 I had for a year - the shaft had no impact on its handling - the bike was incredible, like a faster reliable RD350LC with nothing ever needing doing, and narrow enough you have a chance in traffic

why honda forgot the benefits of no crap on the back wheel, and no agro adjusting a chain i don't know - my KTM1290 every single ride threw crap everywhere at the back, every other ride you had to lube the chain, if you can't be arsed to change gear every second the chain slaps about, if the lube isn't perfect and the adjustment close to perfect the gear change is a variable feast, if you put her and a load on you need to loosen the chain, checking and adjusting is a faff I hadn't done for 15 years - all for ZERO gains ever
