I passed "hundreds" of Byways today on the route
I'm going to go over the O/S maps and create waypoints for a few choice "short cuts" - if possible we really ought to get the most G out of the GS ;)

I cant wait till i get some free weekends, need to ride more!!!
as of 14 Aug all weekends are free, got to do some of these byways

Hi Nick we could meet at the roundabout at junction 7 just at the top of reigate hill nice and easy .What time do you think its about 80 miles.

Rob, Junction 7 is a bit awkward - not easy to wait anywhere as far as I can remember ....

J8 is better.

How about meeting at the Bridge House Hotel on Reigate Hill.

I will be there from 8:30 and wait until 8:45 if anyone wants to join us.

Revised routes in the .ZIP file - the Mapsource file now also contains several Byway "short cut" waypoints which I may try on the day if the weather stays dry. I'll take those that don't fancy the Byways round the road way

Hoping to get along. But won't know for sure, for sure, till the last minute. :thumb

I have a 1200GS with alloys and Pilot roads.

I'm game for anything but is my wheel / tyre combo ok for the byways you intend to go on.

Novice off roader :eek

If it remains dry I'd imagine they would be ok. I haven't recced all the potential route Byways myself - might try a couple on the way to Bath on Wednesday :)

Well, don't forget the first rule - don't pick it up until everyone has had a chance to take a photo ;)

Clive - stick me down as well, if you can squeeze another in. Sounds like a fun day - I used to live in the area in Lambourn. Ta Mike. (Mob 07766 227749).

I'm still up for it - having returned in one piece from the 2nd European Adventure Rider Rally in the Dolomites yesterday

Will also see if I can drag Possu out of bed on Sunday morning... :D

Sounds goood

Clive,
sounds like a good idea but like you my weekends are in short supply. If you fancy a mid week trip that is similar let me know, see if my shifts allow. :(

The first one is a proper green lane - rutted grass track, but has a slightly dodgy uphill exit back onto the road - should be ok though :)

The others I tried were probably made just for GSs - wide ruts, some loose dirt/chalk/flint stones/gravel - should be fine (if it remains dry) :thumb
