Clive - stick me down as well, if you can squeeze another in. Sounds like a fun day - I used to live in the area in Lambourn. Ta Mike. (Mob 07766 227749).

Sadly am having to drop out as I have to go away with work on Sunday now instead on Monday... Enjoy the day.

Sorry Clive,

but i'll have to give it a miss tommorrow, as i need to be in plymouth by mid afternoon for family stuff :(

Hope you all have a good ride!

I've only entered the waypoints so far - when I finish the proper route I'll post it up on this thread - I'll try and remember to put it in GPX format which you should be able to read.

Unfortunately can't seem to read either version in the zip file with the Mapsource program for my Quest - any sensible ideas anyone? :(

Found a fix I have version 7 on my Quest but on the PC it was 6.4. Upgrade and hey presto.

Now to try the ride - this will be my first outing on the GS but what the hell bent metal can always be unbent
:bounce1

too late?

Clive,
Do you have any plans to do this route again some time? If so can I tag along

Not sure when though - August and September are fairly busy for me so unlikely to be this side of October :(

I think Perryhill is going to be riding the route (soon?).

I am indeed and even though it is TVAM this week - I assume all the boys in the area with their posh modern GSs will be there - thought I might actually try on Sunday (20th) if I can get an all day pass from the boss. No idea what the route is like - tarmac, gravel, swamp but what the hell I can always turn the ol' 100GS round if I don't like it. Hints please Clive....

Knowing how lazy I am I plan to leave the Sandhurst (Berks) area around 10 am but it will probably slip a bit.

If you decide to do the Byway across Salisbury plain - keep a close eye on the GPS waypoints on the section from the "crossroads" next to the dead tanks. You may miss the next turning - if you get to a large sign that says "End of Byway - go no further or die" (or something similar :) ) back up about 300 yards and you will see a short marker pole (about 2 feet high - easy to miss in the long grass) - the next bit from the marker post is mostly grass, it's not used a great deal but hopefully you'll be able to see where it goes - at the end of it is a single story brick building.
