Who has the highest mileage F800?

Re the pads, I can understand why you might think that. That's bloody good mileage out of a set of front brake pads. Although I suspect your riding style/environment may play an important role in that.....Lots of motorway use, engine braking??? :beerjug:

Ha ha .... Track days, der Nürburgring, overland North Africa, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and the Karakorum Highway. Stella Alpina Rally

Very little motorway use at all Rick.

Lost count of the tyres fitted at 35

Good stuff! :thumb

The furthest I've been on a bike was to Washington (the original) last week - and that was only because I was paid to. :beerjug:

Brembo discs

I have recently noticed, that the aftermarket replacement for front discs are hard to get hold of.

My rear brake disc went at 18 000 and believe me, I do not brake a lot.

Original Brembos front were quoted to me at £250 each. This is really a rip off as the Brembo discs for any other bike are around £100 mark.

I know I sound bit stingy, but need to get the frustration of my chest before buying the originals.

Front brake discs still original, pads replaced at about 74,000 miles (still well serviceable and plenty of life in them still)

Rear disc has been replaced some miles ago ...

My only advice is to always use genuine discs and pads. There are those cheapskates amongst us that will advocate cheaper after market replacements

The originals are cheaper in the long run :thumb

Not stingy at all - you really do have to wonder how they justify that sort of mark up.

I recently (on 658) had a small rubber boot on the caliper to replace and balked at the original £23 Motorworks wanted so eventually found it's the same brake caliper as on a 1998 Honda - £10. It's not so much the money as the principle of these marks ups just because we ride BMWs.

I know EBC stopped doing theirs for the 8gs but surely someone must offer an alternative?

Demon Tweeks have EBC Pro Lite front discs listed on their web site. £63.19!!!!!! :nenau
Don't tell anyone though in case there's none left by the time mine need replacing!!:D

D'oh, feck it! Too early........It looked like the front in the pic but it's the rear disc!! :tears

If you want to see a big mark up on the price then phone a Triumph dealer and ask them how much the fuel filter is for the 955cc engined triples. It is the same filter used by BMW on the K75/100/1100 and R1100/1150 bikes and is made by Mahle. Triumph will charge you £36 for this part, BMW £17.65 and you can get a non branded Mahle filter from Motorworks for £11.28

Happened to me as well

I was searching for the front discs as well and have been mislead by the pictures on Demon Tweeks
I was able to find alternetives of the rear disc, but not the front.

The site of DT is bit stupid saying the image is for illustration only as one needs to know how the disc look like. In some cases, they put completely different item there.

Only place for the originals were the motorworks and aftermarket some site in the US.

127,000 and on third stator. Every thing else fine. Mobil 1 10-40 motorcycle oil.

Good one :thumb

Just one replacement stator for me. Did you replace with an original BMW or have it rewound?

Putoline 10-40 oil all the way for mine :thumb

Hi Micky
At what mileage did your stator go...and did you rewind or fit BMW replacement ?

63,300 miles while in Germany .... charged battery got me home. Malc (Bilko) had to push me the full length of the ferry to bump start it on the down ramp

Bless :comfort

Repaired using BMW original replacement :thumb

Well my 54,500 suddenly doesn't sound like a lot of miles...but I'm working on it every day.
It would have had another 1600 or so on it by now if the generator hadn't decided to stop working two days before we went to France. :blast
Left at Cannon's in Braintree while they waited to get one from Germany and went on a rental (2012 F800GS Trophy).
Mine now also needs front discs and they want How Much?! for a new set.
About to order a set of front rotors from Allbike Engineering at Greenwich. Made to order at...£110 each.
Some of the prices they charge are a bit much and some are just a complete piss take. If I can get a set of rotors made for less than BMW charge for just one - that's a piss take.
