And could show me where you placed the PTT talk button on your 12GS? Also I’m curious where to put the antennae since I have a tail bag, and I need to cover the bike at night. :eek

All pics (or links to pics) and tips very welcome! Thanks!

were not posh enough to have the Baehr :D we're mostly autocomed up

but it looks the part if i thought anyone could be good it would be Baehr :D

tell us how you get on with it and any of the downside to using one ;)

not on a 1200gs but....
my ptt is on the left hand mirror stem, had to make a spacer up to get it to fit, but thats just a bit of rubber rolled up til it is the right diameter.
hope that helps :)

no antennae on my bike...so cant help there.

Og.
cheap and cheerful :D

Ogmios,

That sounds like the very spot I would want for my talk button, as my fingers are a bit short for the velcro in the cap thing. Would you happen to have a pic? Could you tell me how I can get hold of the item you used to attach it to the mirror stem? I would really appreciate it a lot! If it's more appropriate, please mail me directly - [email protected]. Cheers! :)

here it is

i think the unit you have is different to mine - but this should work :)
i wrapped a bit of rubber round the mirror stem. held it in place with a bit of tape - then attached the ptt button - held that in place with cable ties. no big money solution / just a little lateral thinking

pics below - if i can help - let me know :)

Thanks for sending the pics! That's what I was looking for. Yes, mine is different, bigger, so I might need something with a bit more body. Thanks again!

We fit the Baehr PTT button here, on the left switch housing........and being perfectionists we had a small plastic block made to fit the contours of the switch housing on the one side and the flat surface of the PTT housing........

Thanks so much! That looks very good. It would be the right position for my hand as well, being a bit smallish I would have trouble reaching the inside of the cap where most seem to velcro the button.

Riding buddie

Hi Mirian,

Moved over from the UK recently and just bought a 1200GSA, my first intro to BMWs. Looking for like minded mates to meet up for ride, I'm living in Aalsmeer. Maybe you can mail me if you and your mates arrange trips out.

Cheers

Hello Dutch,
That's an interesting bit of gear, can the PTT switch be bought with bare wire ends along with the plastic mounting block?

Thanks, Brian.

The Baehr PTT button/switch has a 6 pin DIN plug on the other end in order to connect it to the DIN socket on the Baehr Dista/Dista U bike-to-bike unit........

......I'm sure some bright spark could cut the plug off and determine what each of the six wires is for.........but it's not something we've done here as all Baehr cables are screened for noise suppression and cutting off the plug would obviously hinder that function.....

As for the shaped plastic block, we don't normally sell them individually but include it as part of any Baehr Dista/Dista U installation we do.......

Cheers

In case someone would like to see, this is how mine came out:

I'm very happy with the result. I can reach the buttons well and I think it looks pretty classy too.
