Well done you all. Really sorry I couldn't have joined you but bike really needed tyres, brakes etc sorted and Brian at Mototech could not sort last week because of his stand at Ulster GP and lifted it this morning, so to dodgy to chance over that mileage.

If by chance anyone has logged your route by GPS and could see to posting it, I should like to re-trace it in the near future. More importantly I hope the route you chose worked out alright for you all.

As someone has already complimented, even braver of you all with the current treacherous weather, well done again.

Pledges also received from ChubbyThumper & Teamin in my absence :beerjug:

I've started collecting the money (thanks GerryC & Leprechaun :clap) so, if you've pledged yer life savings please forward them in cheque, draft or postal order form (made out to MS Ireland) to me as follows :
Jochen Riehn
Ashfield House
Brookvale
Rathfarnham
Dublin 14

After waiting for the rain (that doesn't really sound adequate to describe conditions on Saturday !) to stop I set off in the direction of Derry. In the 7km between my place & Kildare town I was delayed 3 times by traffic jams at floods & briefly considered whether I was mad to proceed. Things eased up a bit after that but it was interesting coming around some of the bends, not knowing if there'd be a new lake or river instead of tarmac. After the 'home' bits the most interesting was the road between C'macross & Ballybay - there was literally a river running down where the road should have been :

I'll let Joe tell the full story as he & the others did the 'full monty' and I only jumped in for a wee spin to ensure your donations were actually earned :D But I took a few pics on my phone which I'd like to share with youse.

Sunday morning dawned brighter & dryer than we could have hoped. I met the lads in Muff about 8.30 & ran up to Malin. The weather was sunny by then & all looked right with the world as the boys lined up for another photo opportunity.

Slea Head that afternoon. Tom was praying that it would stay dry. Needless to say it was raining within 5 minutes :blast

And finally, Mizen Head late that evening. You can just make out Frank & Gerry discussing the relative merits of the different 'Stitch colours :D

After that it was just a short run back up the country to our respective destinations :augie

Bloody well done lads :clap:bow:clap
And thanks to Daimo, GerryC & Daithi for coming out to play, it was uplifting to see youse :beerjug:

Lads n Ladies...
What a 24hr adventure, and to do it in the company of so many ukgser's that
I admire was really humbling. :clap:clap:clap

I arrived at Belfast city hall at 05:55am sunday morning to find big fella,
Wilson, Mzokk, Leprachaun and Chubbythumper waiting. After a quick chat
and a few foto's we headed off leaving about 06:05am to Burr Point (the
most eastern part of Ireland)

Mileage reading and trip reset Belfast city hall (camera shake nerves :o)

We arrive at Burr Point about 06:45am a quick chat and few more foto's
then Mzokk give us a quicker route back to Belfast :thumb2 He heads back
to bed and meself, Leprachaun, big fella and Wilson head towards Malin
Head (the most northern part of Ireland).

We get into Derry take the Foyle Bridge over and meet Jockser at Muff then
onto Malin Head. Got there about 09:15am

We leave Malin Head heading south for Slea Head, stop for petrol just outside
Burnfoot (Donegal) and big fella takes over lead south planning to stop in
Tuam for lunch, We stop just outside Tuam for a quick bite and then on to
catch ferry across Shannon.

I take the lead again down towards Slea Head (the most western part of
Ireland)

anlaisfada011.jpg

We meet daimo :clap at Slea head and he takes us towards Mizen Head, at
Castlmaine we run into GerryC :clap and he then takes over lead toward Mizen
Lads this is where the tiredness begins to hit me, at Killarney I wave the
others behind me in front and I take up the rear.

Fairplay to daimo and gerryc because without them we'd be still riding around
Kerry and Cork :clap:bow:bow:bow:clap

We arrive at Mizen Head (the most southern part of Ireland) and its DARK...
But little did we know that the big fella had lined up a stripper to wake us all
up :clap:clap:clap

anlaisfada018.jpg

We said our goodbyes and thanks to gerryc and Wilson took the lead to
Skibbereen, where we stopped for food and a rest. After a quick bite we
headed for Cork.... Lads n ladies it is here that i must apologise to the hero's
of "an la is fada" Tiredness was really begining to hit me hard and i was making
mistakes on the road so i had to slow up, this was holding up everybody
and big fella and Leprachaun had been on the go since 04:00am to be in
Belfast ( Frank, Tom, Jochen and Wilson my sincere apologises )

At Bandon we meet up with no other man than the bold Dathi himself,
a wee rest and a chat and on wards to Cork city for some petrol and then the
road north. We stopped again in Urlingford where we said our goodbyes and
thanks to Daithi :clap . Leprachaun and big fella head off towards home trying
to complete the 1600kms before 4am and meself jockser and Wilson made
our way to Dublin. Jockser peeled of for home at Kildare and meself and Wilson
stopped for petrol again before the M50 then on to the M1 north. On the M1
just before Newry it began to rain again and a bit of FOG i waved Wilson on
as I had to slow up again, at least one of us would make it on time...
Wilson headed in to the distance and i watched his tailight disappear, I got
on to the Lisburn turn of for Belfast at 05:45am coming down the motorway
westlink closed from Stockmans lane, took turn of for the Falls Road and headed
towards city hall getting there at 05:58am but no sign of Wilson, and then he
comes riding along he'd taken the Lisburn Road in.

its still not too late to PM Jockser with a few bob.
24hrs and 1021.7 miles

Huge respect to you guys......that was a serious undertaking in the weather we had over the weekend. Making time on those aul roads in the SW is hairy at the best of times, never mind the shoite conditions you will have encountered........some in the dark. Well done again to one and all.

V:clap:clap:clap

Athough they didnt post or PM that they were going to donate I've received money this morning from both TrevMcDev8 & Noodles.

Thanks guys :beerjug:
