Why don't SPC want to sell me a bike?

What has fascinated me (and probably happens at other dealerships too) is the people who like to throw stones.

Surely that's what these forums are all about though :nenau

In my original post I didn't slag SPC off, I was actually quite polite about them. I was merely sharing my experience with others and it looks like I'm not alone. SPC are obviously losing a fair amount of business because of their failure to return calls.

They have always been very helpful to me. I called yesterday, left a message and they called back straight away.
Thanks SPC

What annoyed me most was that I rang and spoke to the boss, Bob/Rob/Ron, and told him his salesman hadn't phoned me back. And then Bob did exactly the same.

Hi there

I went there when I was trying to buy my 12gs. I had the money with me, and I was more than happy buying there my newone. I ask something which from my point was easy to do but they did not thing the same. So no deal.

I have just service my 12gs there last saturday. It looks busy, and there are some good guys there. One is the owner? (small guy sit down on the left) and the sales guy (tall gay on the right). I like them. The biggest problem that I can see so far is that there is a young guy in the service desk who does look a bit lost. Maybe I am wrong but Two times I have dealt with him, three mistakes he has done.

A 6000k service was 202 pounds.

Cheers.

Sorry. I apologise.

I meant guys not gays.

Escuse me.

SPC is a business, and the purpose of the business is to make a profit for the owners. If they choose to do it in a way that some people like, and some do not, then as long as the number of happy people exceeds the cheesed off ones, the business will do well. I suspect that SPC get any number of people making enquiries, but have decided not to use their salesmen's time in chasing them all up. Same as a lot of other retail businesses.

No business can afford to even try to please all of the people all the time, some people have expectations which are not commercially realistic. Other people, like the guy doing the Panorama prog. on Thames Water the other night clearly find the making of profit morally offensive, which is all well and good for those lucky bunnies employed in jobs where they are funded by the tax payer.

As BMW owners, it is in our long term interests that the dealers should survive, in order to maintain a decent level of competition. That said, I get as cheesed off as the next bod with shite service.

Simple fix - I had exactly the same problem with Bluebell - if they can't be bothered to return calls when you want to give them 10k what will the aftersales be like? I voted with my feet and went to Rainbow who were excellent.

Bluebell are 7 miles from my home and Rainbow around 80 miles and well worth the trip over the Pennines.

It's not Greg's fault that he only looks about 12 yrs old .... :D :D :D

My comment wasn't about you. I appreciate your feedback and at times I know they are a victim of their success. however in my experience, if you are patience and you do end up dealing with Bob. He will do his best to get a deal together that makes it worthwhile for him and you.

As for a 1200S. I saw a pretty good "advertised" deal going on where 1500 quid is paid for by BMW for your deposit and you pay 149 a month. Go have a chat about it. If it is not to your requirement then goto park lane. My personal experience is that the guys in PL(and other Posh dealers) are good but they can't deal.

The amount of used stock they have compared to a richer/posh dealership is amazing. That's not "corporate" money tied up in stock, that's "his" money.

Just my 2p worth. If you think it's shite...then do your own thing.

Thanks, Novice. I did see that deal with the £1500 deposit paid for you, I think that was what helped me to decide that I wanted one. It was on their website but I think it has been taken off now.

Hey Pauly, don't know where you are in the south, but North Oxford are good guys and Coopers in Reading have been getting better too. Mine came from Coopers and has always been serviced there too, they have a great techie called Tony, has been there forever.

I personally do not like SPC and they treated my neighbour with his Boxer Cup like shit, to the point that he complained to BMW as Rob didn't want to know.

Good luck in you rquest for the GS.

I went along to the open weekend at SPC the other Sunday, had a go on an R1200S and pretty much decided I wanted one. However, the salesman wasn't able to check whether the spec I wanted was available as it was a Sunday. I phoned them Tuesday morning and spoke to the same guy who said he would check the system and phone me back within half an hour.
me.
I hope you're going for the loud exhaust pipe - I followed someone at their open day riding an R1200S - brand new but with aftermarket cans on it - either Remus or Akropovich - can't remember which - but it sounded SWEET :thumb
