Do you have a Smartphone, which is WiFi capable? Android, Windows, Android, etc. If yes, can it see your WiFi network? If yes, then it is likely the iPad is where you should be looking for the problem.
Can you try someone else's WiFi network or one at work or even visit McDonalds to try their free WiFi with your iPad?

... John, do you have any other routers kicking about?
You do not have to use the Talk talk one, you can use most other routers and configure them with the info you now have access to via logging in to yours using the admin login to it
(I use a Belkin router rather than the SKY one they provided, and get better results)
I still have the BT one I was using a month or so ago, it's up in the roof space, I'll try that if all else fails, but I'm nervous of getting too radical in case I paint myself into a corner. I'm just off to my mate's now to see if I get any sign of life from his WiFi. Perhaps I should have done that yesterday, it would have narrowed the field down somewhat.
PS, just seen Grey Beard and cookie's last post re reducing the possibilities; thank you both (as well as Fanum, of course)
All Stations, All Stations, Mayday is Cancelled: Stand Down, Stand Down.
Eventually managed to get through to a very nice lady on the TalkTalk Helpline who talked me through the process and who found that the WLAN lamp on the router was not lit. She asked me to press the WLAN switch on the side of the router after which the light came on as a flashing green, she then asked me to press the WPS button on the side of the router, and bingo, joy of joys, the WiFi was back on again.
Life is good once more.
Gentlemen, I thank you all for your time and efforts, and would add that you take care not to switch your WiFi feature off by inadvertently pressing the little switches on your router. It pissed me off when I did it.
