Can anyone out there offer some advice please. I'm in the middle of swapping the grotty old rear shock on my 1200GS for a shiny new Wilbers one. When I offer up the new shock with the remote adjuster on the offside I find that the compression adjuster points forward and cannot be adjusted because it's too close to the battery. What I need to do is turn both mounting points through 90 degrees so that the compression adjuster is pointing to one side (nearside). I can turn the top mount as it's threaded, but I don't know how to turn the bottom one. Can anyone help?

Typical Wilbers quality ... don't ask how I know ...

After adjusting the top mount and tightening the lock nut put it in a vice, insert a large screwdriver into the bottom mount (where the bolt would go through) and twist the whole assembly 90 degrees clockwise - it's quite easy. Don't worry about being a couple degrees off as long as you can mount the shock to the bike, this will rectify itself after the first couple meters of riding.
If you don't have a vice just mount the top of the shock to your bike instead, then turn.
