Hi all. Quick Q- lots of questions on vario luggage but not this specific question. I have a full set of vario top box and panniers from my hexhead. Although the luggage won't fit a new bike (exhaust and swingarm flip sides), would my inner bags?

In other words, are the topbox similar enough in size for the bag to transfer over and is there a snowball's chance in hell that the pannier bags would swap over (albeit to the opposite side of the new bike)?

Thanks!
Rich.

They do fit - but they don’t make effective use of the space. The newer panniers lose internal space because of the lug where they attach to the frame at the bottom, which used to be an external clip. This means the panniers (especially on the exhaust side) can only be part-filled otherwise the pannier doesn’t close easily. And you don’t want to force it shut, otherwise you can break the Vario mechanism (ask me how I know).

You would be better off buying either the new inners, which I think are fitted, or something less rigid e.g. the KJD Lifetime. I’m currently on a long weekend away trying the KJDs out for the first time and I’m quite impressed.
