Will I never learn?

Sorry to beat off topic.. but did you get my PM regarding the rack Proff? Not sure if your inbox was full at the time :nenau Cheers, Benjamin :thumb

No Benjamin, I didn't...:blast
Got a chrome set and a set For HG panniers...
When we're back from Ripley I'll go through my stock again...
I'm sure I've got the rear rack for a g/s just got to remember where it is as it's not with the case racks....

Just to confirm.. it's the rear rack that fits to the rear subframe and then the pannier racks fasten to that...?

Yeah that's the one, hard to find (and bloody expensive new) it's just that the pannier frames are useless without it :blast Thanks very much though Proff, I really appreciate it :beerjug:

You may now continue with the thread...

Hopefully the lines will look better once the new seats fitted. There's a six week wait for seats from Motorworks so if anybody has a good mono G/s seat for sale let me know.

I've been following this thread with interest and am surprised and gobsmacked at how you seem to have made a mismatched pile of bits into something that looks really quite nice to be honest.. I look forward to seeing what it looks like when its all finished, but I'm betting bloody nice is somewhere near the mark. Keep building and keep smiling

Regards, Mark:)

Thanks Mark.

The beauty of the airheads for me is that you can take a messy knackered engine and effectively make it a zero mile unit again. The cycle parts are interchangeable with other bikes and are of sufficient quality to allow them to withstand the worst our weather can throw at them. All the levers and moving parts are bushed so with a little effort all the slack and wear can be removed and a quick coat of powder or paint has them looking like new again.

What I'm really asking is:::::::: Will you make me one,:hide

Build one yourself. Airheads are just big maccano kits.
Rob, whats the likelyhood of me tracking down a basket case R80GS, or any airhead GS for that matter? Should I give up now? :aidan

I would love to have a go at building an airhead of any sort really, and me, being a girly 'an all :toungincheek

R65 sounds like a good starting point for me I guess?

If your anywhere near Loughborough your welcome to take mine for a spin. They're an acquired taste and don't suit everybody. Best find out if you like them before setting out to build one?

A friend of mine let me go out on his R100 after I spent a month taking the P*** out of him owning an airhead. One day he simply put the keys in my hand and told me to go off for a spin...I had to begrudgingly admit that I found it a lot of fun to ride :bounce1
Was thinking the R65 would be the cheapest to find - I want a winter hack and something to ride to a vintage rally that takes place on a regular basis down in Herts. There's even a petrol station there that sells 4 * leaded petrol on a permanent basis.

Nope! Been up to my neck with my new job, haven't had a chance to do anything for a few weeks now. Only got round to posting the heads this afternoon. Richie says he can turn them around in a week so hopefully it should be running by the end of next week.

Look what turned up today

Moorespeed one piece valves (44mm inlet. 40mm Exhaust), Colsibro (age-hardened copper nickel silicon alloy) valve guides and new lead free valve seats - :bounce1

Going to look into a pair of Richies High comp pistons and a few other goodies once it's all settled in and running properly.

Been talking to a friend in the carb game. I may try a pair of Amal mkII's out. I've alsways found them very easy to jet and at the end of the day it's what Mikuni copied. £90 each new with all the jets available cheaply (unlike Bings). You also get the useful guides http://www.amalcarb.co.uk/downloads.aspx
