I like to see them too, same as seeing a great looking bridge spanning a valley
In Denmark they build them just off the coast![]()

Why are people so unwilling to give wind-turbines a chance? They are the only current power source which you as a generation can put up with, that if proven to be uneconomic - the next generation can remove with little impact.
Stop being so feckin' selfish
Caithness is apparently now self-sufficient in power generation/consumption, and I can't say that the windfarms have been too intrusive in what is, in my opinion - a fairly dull and featureless landscape.
So windpower can't provide the base-load that areas require? So what? If it reduces the reliance on gas/coal/nuclear power - that has to be good.
In power generation/consumption there are no magic solutions - just sensble compromises.

Wind farms look all nice form a distance, I stayed (near) with in 200m a single winder generator in germany they make a hell of a noise. When the wind was in the right direction the bass resonance cut through the house like a hot knife through butter.
I'm pretty sure that a wind turbine wouldn't be allowed to be sited within 200m of a dwelling in the UK. Unless it was privately owned by the house owner, which is irrelevant to whats being discussed here.

Has anybody gone up against this kind of thing before?
What can be done?

off people on both sides of the debate BUT no one has answered my original questions.Just found out that three of the estates are proposing windfarms on the Dava moor. This will devastate the scenery and spoil a great ride over Dava Grantown road.
What the feck is going on? This is one of the beautiful untouched areas in Scotland nay Europe. How can the B******s sleep at night?
I'm sure most of you guys have been down this road, both sides of Lochindorb are great fun.
I went to a meeting in Cawdor which the local resistance movementhad organised and asked where they wanted my signature but they did not have anything in place to take my outrage to the powers that be. All the poor souls where doing was drinking tea and being annoyed.

First couple of lines:First couple of lines:
How exactly will they spoil a good ride?

First couple of lines:
The clue is in the word scenery
or if you drive all the way around your circuit without stopping or looking at the scenery you might want to consider mounting your bike on a tred mill & sticking a picture of something in your visor.
Corse you could save the enviroment as well if you didnt switch the engine on and just made broom broom noises in your helmet.![]()

Are wind turbines really that green??
As far as I am aware, the wind turbines are largely made of aluminium, and that needs huge amounts of electricity to refine....what powers the smelters....etc....
Bottom line, whatever you do, has a negative effect of some description![]()
