I've just bought a new computer with, a first for me, Windows Vista.

I have copied over all me ripped CDs from my old computer which has worked fine.

I am now trying to rip some additional CDs. All of them are being loaded on as 'unknown album' instead of what used to happen (on my old computer) which was the cover art, album title and track listing would all be downloaded from the internet automatically.

I've checked (I think) the settings in Media Player and as far as I can tell it's set up to connect to the internet and retrieve the info. needed.

Any idead folks as to what is (not) happening :nenau

Cheers

ANDRES.

Just a thought here,okay.

You may have to physically do it to get album info.:nenau

Quite a few times I have put in Cds and converted without being connected to net.:o Once connected I look in "Library" and right click on title.:bounce1 In the drop down there's a line "update album info" it then goes in search for track. :bow I do the same with album covers.
I am running XP tho, so yours may be different.:type

Keep an eye on it...
Vista seems to go on for days after you first set it up doing lord knows what in the in the background. - Eventually all the album art on mine appeared. I have about 12Gb of music so maybe that's why it took a while.
If you still have problems right click the blank 'jewel CD' icon and select 'update album info' or 'find album info'.

Also check in Tools/Options/Library tab, make sure you have 'Retrieve additional information from the internet' selected.

Try opening your internet connection when you rip the cd's.

Mmmmm.......all the above makes sense but hasn't helped :(

I know what you mean about the riupped files taking a while to update some times, my old computer used to do the same.

My internet connection is on all the time.

All settings seem correct; 'Retrieve additional information from the internet' is selected.

When I have ripped a CD a message comes up telling me that Media Player was unable to retrieve the info.

If I right click on a CD thatis 'unknown' and ask it to 'find album info' it finds it, I click 'finish' and it applies it to the file :thumb2
It won't however do a 2nd or 3rd file as it then tells me I have to be connected to the Internet (I have checked and I am still connected).
I then have to come out of Media Player and then go back in.
In this way I can do one file at a time.

I am seriously confused

Just another thought brought on by "she-who-loves-me",,:o It was her idea to rip music for her mp3 player anyways.;)

You have to put the tune into a "Playlist", :nenau I thought you would have to play it first tho.:bounce1 Once in the playlist or once played it is easier to get the album info,,,,, Kinda makes sense...:roll
