Some useful advice about winter storage

Posted this in the WC section because this is where it seems most appropriate but could be useful to other owners too :D

(Yes, I know I have a WC )

I've drained all the fuel out of the petrol tank, so that's now empty.

In Spring, how do I get the bike to the petrol station to fill it up again? I'm not pushing it that far... fuck that

... and when using the hairdryer to warm up the empty coolant pipes, is it best to run it on a timer, or leave it on 24/7

I'm just a bit worried about the electricity bill as it seems running a hairdryer 24/7 over winter might cost a bit?

I don't understand why pipes designed to keep things cool, have to be kept warm?

I`m confused - what sort of oil is he using in his drier? And why does he not dry the inside of his tank?

Use L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil, smells really nice

Quickest way to dry the inside of your petrol tank is to throw a match in there..... just make sure you cover your eyebrows

I'm a bit concerned about salt leaching into my tyres now.

So if I wrap carpet around the tyres, does that mean I can carry on riding it after the Gritters have salted the roads?

Tried the carpet but in the end, went with olio di gomito which needs to be applied with Martello di Vetro. Any good Italian bike store will sell it over the tinternet. Dont forget to order both.

Smear your tyes with silicone grease, that will stop the salt degradation, as a bonus they will last longer as well.

Thank god I live in Sweden where we don´t have such long winters that I have to worry about storage long term and all the preparations that that seems to entail. Seems way to complicated for my liking.

After a shit in my wife’s bathroom I always blame it on the dog. I put the dogs squeaky toy in the hand basin. Dogs been dead 10 years so stops wife worrying about the bike in the bath too.

Just a thought could you store the bike in wife wardrobe if funny about her bathroom. All the clothes in there will soak up the acf 50 so won’t have to worry about it dripping on floor of wardrobe - worth considering !

Mate, use the toilet and flush it afterwards... don't leave shit on the floor and a squeaky toy in the hand basin.

They're cleverer than that....
