Winter...

Still snawing and blawing...-2...tyres did graaaand...still needed to plop into 4x4 to get up the drive....gates at Spittal shut for 2 days now...gates shut=no skiing. All you cnuts that tell me this is Scotland in winter and I should learn to live with it can fuck off. I've been up here for 16 years now(they could'nt find a local to do my job as well as I do) and this is the hardest winter we've had. The farm manager(local born and bred) agrees. Just been to near Kirrie for a bash.....no snow...drive back up the glen and it's horrendous....snowing and drifting. Fuck knows what we'll do with the lambs....even if it wasn't snowing the grass hasn't grown a jot..however we/they have managed for the last 2 centuries, and no doubt will manage again. We are using huge quantities of silage to keep things going and moving on to straw soon. Keeps their bellies full but they will lose condition. No green visible at all from me windies !! Still, last year we had a blizzard on April 3rd, so perhaps this is an improvement? Beginning to sound like The Archers now!!!

Still,. we've just sold last years spring calves for £90k, so will at least keep the boss in Bollinger for another year at least!

We seem to have escaped the Winter down in the Glasgow area as we have hardly had any snow all winter.

Have you seen the forecast ?

Still all clear here. Four times in the last four months my brother has been snowed in in Telford and he can't believe we have not been blocked in once. Just watching the news and seems as if it has been horrendous in some places. Hope you all get better weather soon folks.

Just in from my evening's entertainment. A park full of ice sculptures. Neat. Saw them in sunshine this afternoon and illuminated this evening. Cool!

Sounds bloody hard work in those conditions

OK, so after my rant, I've just been chatting to a farmer just up the glen. He's in his sixties, he's a proper full time hands-on(in?) farmer, a glenner....been here all his days...and he reckons it's the worst he's seen. His lambs start tomorrow. Of course we get snow...sometimes lots, and sometime in March/April....'lambing snow', but what is different is that its going to hang about, certainly next week..who knows? It needs a right good thaw, or rain, to shift it, no sign of either, and then the grass needs to start growing. That could just possibly take us into mid April. Poor lambs! At least the suns getting a bit of heat in it now.

Oh, by the way, it's still snowing(lightly now), main roads shut, quarry roads shut, -1 at 1.30pm, and I've a bus load of South Africans in the house this Weds. Do you think they'll feel the cold??? I could make a fortune with some fleeces....hmmmm....

Every cloud has its silver lining :D

The two missing police officers from Braemar have been found. PC Brian McCallum and PC Andrew Henderson have not been seen since last Friday. They were found badly dehydrated and suffering from hypothermia. But are looking forward to this months overtime payment.

You're right. It's snow joke :blast

Snow kill many people every year over here.

This is one of many accidents in one week. http://www.dagbladet.no/2013/03/26/nyheter/innenriks/senja/snoskred/snoras/26399181/

Too much snow on top of a car (your picture) can kill you because you won't get air.

Every day this Easter I hear people are in danger because of snow, and police and Red Cross and other helpers are looking for people who are missing.
That is why I didn't believe your picture was a joke.
