Yea, £235-245 sounds about right, they look the part, but take a wee bit longer to clean down.

Thanks for the replies. Well I went in today and asked to have the wire wheels. All sorted! Unfortunately I will now have to wait until the end of March 
as they could not change the spec for the bike originally ordered.
Yellow 1200GS, no abs, no heated grips, but + hand protectors, tank bag & wire wheels.

This is a bike that you WILL want to use throughout the year - so I suggest that if it is not too late order the heated grips NOW. It is the one item I regret not having on my 1200GS that arrived in September and is ridden almost every day - it is not really economic to have them fitted afterwards I am afraid. Believe me, you will not regret it !!!!! Best of luck, Brian

Hot grips really are essential for winter riding
Have found that i can still use summer gloves (and extra dexterity that this brings) Are'nt hand protectors standard anyway?

Yes I can't disagree, I would have gone for the whole lot if I had the money :-(
You see wot appened wuz. I had bought a mint 1150RT last September, then I took a test ride on the GS12 in January and had to have it
The nice people at BMW offered me the same money as I had paid for the RT privately, my wonderful wife said ok
So my conscience said have the basic one.
I had heated grips and ABS on the RT. Never used the grips , quite liked the servo but was not completely sold on it so that was that.
If I really had the money I would have kept the RT too)))))

You don't need wire wheels they bend just as easy as the cast wheels just try and get wire wheels fixed. For the extra dollars you can do a lot of repairs on the cast wheels. which youcan not on the wire wheels.
I've covered a lot of ks on rocks and gravel. The cast wheels are fine. Like all wheels you have to keep the tire preasure up on rocks as well ride with care. I should take my own advise. I ride fast and still no damage other than paint damage.

Same thing with me bought a 1150R Rockster last Sept ( liked the bike) but it was the GS12 that i really wanted, lost a bit of money so could have had some extras on the 12 (although did go for hot grips) never mind live n learn, dam that test ride!

Agree with previous comments, heated grips are essential, wire wheels aren't.

Bought mine in February and added heated grips, panniers etc.
oh - and the alarm!
The heated grips are really essential because you will want to use it every day that you possibly can.
I avoid using my car whenever possible.
And agree with everyone here - get it all fitted before you collect it.

Hi all
It sounds like i'm really missing out on the heated grips, however i bought an ex-demo 1200 without heated grips, I've found the hand guards deflect most of the cold air so I've not had cold hands yet, I'm on about 7400mls now in all weathers ( bikes done 11250 and getting better)
I've got a pair of BMW winter gloves which are excellent for warmth and are very water proof! The only problem is getting them on if your hands are wet, they drive me mad!!!
